Job Title: Brand Reviewer Job Description The Brand Reviewer supports a nationwide restaurant refresh program by reviewing, redlining, and updating point-of-sale and front-of-house designs to ensure they align with approved brand standards and modern color schemes. This role focuses on existing buildings and involves working with PDF and design review tools to refine architectural drawings, optimize customer and employee traffic flow, and enhance the overall look and functionality of order areas, counters, menu boards, and café spaces. The position combines facility and space planning with branding and signage review, and operates in close collaboration with project managers and external architectural and engineering partners. Responsibilities Assist with brand reviewing for front-of-house areas, including point-of-sale counters, behind-the-counter menu boards, machines, and café zones, ensuring these spaces reflect modern, approved color schemes. Support a major national remodeling and modernization initiative for North American restaurants by reviewing and updating design concepts for existing buildings. Focus on facility design and layout of kitchens and order areas, helping to optimize space utilization and improve both customer and employee traffic flow. Participate in equipment placement and rearrangement, including kitchen, plumbing, utility equipment, and order stations throughout the restaurant. Create, redline, and update interior construction documents in AutoCAD, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and details, primarily through markups and revisions rather than full production drafting. Use Bluebeam and similar PDF review tools to view, mark up, print, and track changes on technical drawings in both 2D and 3D formats. Review shop drawings and communicate with vendors and suppliers to ensure designs and installations comply with brand standards and project requirements. Ensure adherence to ADA guidelines in restaurant design, incorporating accessibility considerations into layouts and detailing. Perform architectural detailing and space planning to improve functionality and maintain consistency with established brand prototypes and guidelines. Place new counters and boards behind counters in café and order areas, coordinating with outside architects and internal teams to achieve cohesive branding and efficient layouts. Review architectural drawings such as roof plans and building elevations produced by external A/E vendors, confirming that building signage, dimensions, and locations align with corporate brand standards. Import technical PDF plans into AutoDesk Design Review or similar tools to review and redline plans and elevations for proper branding, signage placement, and dimensional accuracy. Follow established prototype design guidelines that apply to the majority of restaurants, while applying judgment within the available framework to address site-specific conditions. Work in a supporting role to project managers, helping reduce their workload by handling detailed plan reviews, markups, and coordination tasks. Collaborate effectively with project managers and external architectural partners, escalating questions and seeking clarification when needed to keep projects moving efficiently. Adapt to changing priorities and design direction, managing rework when decisions evolve and maintaining a positive, solution-oriented approach. Work independently on assigned tasks, taking initiative to ask for additional work when current assignments are completed. Avoid residential and purely interior design work, focusing instead on commercial restaurant facilities, branding, and space planning. Essential Skills Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Interior Architecture, with flexibility on experience level but ideally at least 2+ years of relevant professional experience. Experience producing construction documents, elevations, sections, and details in AutoCAD. Proficiency using Bluebeam for PDF review, markups, and tracking changes on technical drawings. Demonstrated experience in facilities design, facilities planning, or space planning, particularly in commercial environments. Ability to review, mark up, and redline architectural drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and details. Understanding of ADA guidelines and their application to restaurant or commercial facility design. Interest and capability in branding and signage of buildings, including placement and sizing of signage on building elevations. Desire to work on the client/owner side rather than within a traditional architecture firm setting. Strong communication skills, with the ability to be well spoken, clear, and confident when interacting with internal teams and external partners. Self-motivated work style, with the ability to work independently and manage tasks without constant supervision. Team-oriented mindset, with the ability to collaborate effectively and support project managers and colleagues. Positive attitude and willingness to learn new concepts, tools, and processes related to restaurant facility design and branding. Ability to adapt quickly and resourcefully to shifting priorities and design changes, including managing rework when project direction changes. Proactive approach to seeking help and additional work, demonstrating initiative by asking for clarification or new tasks when needed. Comfort being somewhat assertive and outgoing in a professional context, particularly when coordinating with team members and external vendors. Commercial, retail, or restaurant design experience, or experience marking up drawings in these settings (strongly preferred). Kitchen design experience is a plus. Residential-only experience is not applicable for this role. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with AutoDesk Design Review or similar CAD-adjacent tools for reviewing and redlining PDF-based technical plans. Background in restaurant, retail, or other branded commercial environments, with familiarity in applying corporate brand standards to architectural designs. Experience reviewing shop drawings and coordinating with vendors and suppliers on design-related questions and clarifications. Exposure to facility planning and space planning in high-traffic environments, with a focus on optimizing flow and efficiency. Interest in long-term involvement with large-scale, multi-site remodeling and modernization programs. Comfort working within established prototype design guidelines while exercising judgment to address unique site conditions. Ability to handle a high volume of concurrent remodeling projects and maintain organization and attention to detail. Enthusiasm for working in a structured environment with documented onboarding and processes that support professional growth. Work Environment This role operates within a large, fast-paced restaurant organization that is undergoing thousands of remodeling and modernization projects across North America. You will primarily use Bluebeam and related design review tools, with some use of AutoCAD and AutoDesk Design Review, to work on front-of-house designs for existing restaurant buildings. The position follows a hybrid schedule, with three days in the office and two days remote once training is complete. Initial onboarding typically involves working in the office Monday through Thursday to learn systems and processes before transitioning to a three-days-in-office, two-days-remote schedule, often with core office days on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The environment offers half-day Fridays, free water, coffee, and soda, and optional Thursday happy hours on an upper floor with a cash bar. A gym is available in the building for a modest monthly fee, with flexible access and no cancellation penalties. The organization provides two weeks of paid time off, matched holidays aligned with headquarters schedules, and a structured, documented onboarding program designed to help new team members succeed. The culture values strong collaboration, independent work, adaptability to change, and a positive, team-oriented attitude. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL.
