About the Role As a Breaking News Correspondent, Sub-Saharan Africa , you will: Become a key player in Reuters breaking news team, producing real‑time headlines, newsbreaks, updates, sidebars, and visually-driven human interest stories. Cover major breaking stories from Southern Africa and other Sub‑Saharan African countries, winning timings and making our stories stand out against our main competitors. Collaborate closely with text and visuals colleagues across the region, showing sharp news judgment. About You To be a Breaking News Correspondent, Sub-Saharan Africa , you are likely to bring: At least one year’s experience in a fast-paced breaking news environment, demonstrating a track record of working in a diverse newsroom and excelling under pressure. Skill at processing complex information quickly. Ability to filter information from multiple news sources including social media to identify and report on key political and economic developments, and viral trends across Sub-Saharan Africa. Fast, succinct and accurate writing under intense time pressure. Working knowledge of the region’s currency and stock markets, and how they are driven by moves elsewhere in global financial markets.
