Business Automation & AI Specialist — Construction Industry

Job Description This is a remote position. Quick facts ● PHP 125,000 – 150,000 per month, based on experience ● 100% Work From Home ● Full-time, ongoing contractor engagement ● AEST business hours The role An established Australian construction business is overhauling how its internal systems, data and workflows operate — and needs someone hands-on to actually build the fix, not just recommend one. You'll work directly with business leadership to understand how work currently flows across estimating, projects, finance and administration, then design and build the systems that fix it. This means rebuilding the plumbing between systems like Simpro, Xero and Excel — closing gaps in overhead recovery and job costing, catching project variations before they're lost, turning manual reporting into something that runs on live data, and building practical AI-assisted workflows for document processing and contract review. There's already a concrete AI project in motion — a takeoff tool replacing manual quantity extraction from drawings — and real scope to shape what comes next. This role suits someone who's already built automations and integrations that real businesses actually run on day to day — not someone who has only administered tools other people built. What you'll do ● Review existing business processes across estimating, projects, finance and admin, and identify where automation, integration or AI genuinely helps ● Design and build workflows connecting systems such as Simpro, Xero and Excel ● Eliminate manual data entry and duplicated processes between systems ● Build automated financial, project and management reporting running on live data, replacing manually-rebuilt spreadsheets and dashboards ● Improve how project variations are identified, captured, tracked and reported ● Turn manual estimating and operational knowledge into repeatable digital workflows, templates and systems ● Build practical AI-assisted workflows for document processing, contract review and data extraction ● Assess and help implement new AI tools and opportunities across the business ● Document what you build and train staff so new systems are actually adopted Requirements ● At least 3 years of experience in business automation, systems integration, process improvement, software implementation or a similar technical role ● Proven, personally-built examples of automations or system integrations — not just administering tools someone else set up ● Hands-on experience implementing AI/LLM-powered solutions (e.g. OpenAI, Claude or similar) ● Strong hands-on experience with automation platforms such as n8n, Make, Zapier or Power Automate, and integrating systems via APIs and webhooks ● Demonstrated experience working directly with business owners or senior stakeholders — understanding how they currently work, recommending a solution, building it, and training them to use it ● Clear, confident English communication Preferred ● Experience with Simpro and/or Xero, including integration between the two ● Background in construction, trades, project-based businesses or professional services ● Power BI, SQL, Python or JavaScript ● Experience with document AI, OCR/data extraction, RAG or AI agents ● Direct experience working with Australian businesses or clients Benefits PHP 125,000 – 150,000 per month, paid as a contractor engagement. ● Annual rate and performance review ● Comprehensive training and ongoing professional development ● Regular staff events and team activities ● 100% Work From Home If you've personally built automations and AI-powered workflows that a real business runs on — not just experimented with them — and you can sit with a business owner, understand what's broken, and fix it, we want to hear from you.
