About the Role Blue Rose Consulting Group is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Business Development Researcher to support our Business Development and Growth team. This is a part-time, entry-level opportunity designed for someone interested in learning the federal government contracting industry from the ground up. If you enjoy research, digging into information, spotting patterns, and figuring out how all the pieces fit together, this is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in government contracting, business development, and capture. You do not need years of government contracting experience to be successful in this role. We are looking for someone who is curious, organized, comfortable working with data, and eager to learn. You'll work alongside experienced members of our Business Development team to identify potential government opportunities, research federal agencies and contracts, and help determine which opportunities may be a good fit for Blue Rose. This is a great opportunity to get your foot in the door, learn the federal contracting landscape, and build practical experience that can lead to future growth in business development, capture, proposals, contracts, or related areas. Employment Type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt Schedule: Approximately 10–20 hours per week Compensation: $15.00–$20.00 per hour , based on experience Location: Remote Department: Business Development / Growth What You'll Do As a Business Development Researcher, you will help our team find and evaluate potential government contracting opportunities. Responsibilities may include: Search federal contracting and opportunity databases, including GovWin IQ, SAM.gov, agency procurement forecasts, and other research sources Identify new and upcoming government contracting opportunities that may align with Blue Rose capabilities and strategic priorities Review opportunities using established qualification criteria such as agency, NAICS/PSC codes, contract value, set-aside type, incumbent contractor, period of performance, and teaming potential Research federal agencies, incumbent contractors, historical spending, previous procurements, and related contracts Track agency forecasts and acquisition planning information to help identify potential opportunities before formal solicitations are released Enter, update, and maintain opportunity information in Blue Rose's pipeline and tracking systems Help score, categorize, and prioritize opportunities for further review Flag potentially strong opportunities for Business Development leadership Prepare concise, easy-to-review opportunity summaries Assist with recurring pipeline reports and special research projects Help ensure opportunity records are accurate, organized, complete, and current Learn and apply Blue Rose's business development and capture processes while supporting the team's day-to-day research needs Maintain confidentiality of proprietary, pipeline, and competitive information What We're Looking For High school diploma or equivalent required Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply Strong internet research and information-gathering skills Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to organize and work with a high volume of information Clear and concise written communication skills Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook Comfortable learning new software, databases, and research platforms Ability to follow established processes and apply defined qualification criteria consistently Dependable and able to complete recurring assignments on schedule Ability to work independently in a remote environment Curiosity and willingness to ask questions, learn, and dig deeper when researching an opportunity Well-qualified candidates residing in a HUBZone are strongly encouraged to apply Nice to Have, But Not Required Experience in government contracting is not required . However, any exposure to the following is a plus: Government contracting or federal procurement Business development, sales, market research, or proposal support GovWin IQ, SAM.gov, USASpending.gov, FPDS, or similar government contracting research tools Federal contracting terminology such as RFP, RFI, Sources Sought, NAICS, PSC, IDIQ, GWAC, and set-asides CRM, pipeline, project management, or opportunity tracking systems College coursework in business, political science, public administration, communications, research, or a related field Students, recent graduates, career changers, and candidates looking to gain their first professional experience in government contracting are encouraged to apply. What You'll Learn This role provides hands-on exposure to the federal contracting lifecycle and an opportunity to develop practical skills in: Government opportunity identification Federal procurement and market research Business development Opportunity qualification Competitive and incumbent research Federal agency research Pipeline management Capture strategy Federal acquisition terminology and processes For someone interested in a future career in business development, capture management, proposal management, federal contracting, or growth operations , this position provides an opportunity to start building that foundation while working directly with an experienced team. What Success Looks Like Success in this role means consistently identifying and documenting relevant opportunities, maintaining accurate pipeline information, meeting research deadlines, and becoming increasingly skilled at recognizing the types of opportunities that align with Blue Rose's capabilities and growth strategy. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is reliable, curious, detail-oriented, and ready to learn. Work Schedule & Environment This is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt position expected to work approximately 10–20 hours per week . Scheduling is flexible based on business needs and assigned research responsibilities. The position is performed remotely and requires reliable internet access and a private workspace appropriate for handling sensitive and proprietary business information. Compensation The anticipated pay range for this position is $15.00–$20.00 per hour , depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits eligibility is determined in accordance with Blue Rose Consulting Group policies and applicable plan requirements.
