Business Unit Manager

Role Description The Coordinator of Volunteers is a part-time, remote role responsible for organizing and supporting the Center’s volunteer activities. This position oversees the recruitment, onboarding, and scheduling of volunteers for research support, events, and outreach initiatives. The coordinator designs and delivers training materials to ensure volunteers understand the Center’s mission, policies, and procedures. Day-to-day tasks include maintaining volunteer records, communicating regularly with volunteers, addressing questions or concerns, and coordinating with staff to align volunteer assignments with organizational needs. The role also involves supporting community outreach activities, helping to build and maintain relationships with partner organizations, and preparing brief reports on volunteer engagement and program effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Volunteer Management and Volunteer Training skills to effectively recruit, onboard, and support volunteers.
• Candidates should possess excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills to engage volunteers, staff, and external partners in a professional manner.
• Candidates should possess Community Outreach experience to develop and maintain relationships with organizations and groups aligned with the Center’s mission.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage multiple priorities, and maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail and consistency.
• Familiarity with basic office software and collaboration tools; experience with volunteer management systems is an advantage.
• Prior experience coordinating volunteers or programs in nonprofit, academic, or policy environments is preferred.
• Relevant education or training in social sciences, public administration, international relations, or a related field is beneficial.
