Position Description An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Buyer working as part of the Purchasing team reporting to the Purchasing Supervisor. Key Responsibilities An experienced buyer to manage and control the Purchase of goods, Indirect materials and Maintenance services. As part of a growing global supply chain you would manage local production requirements, along with assisting our global Purchasing team. £100 million team spend £8 million inventory control [team] Key accountabilities for this role include: Evaluate and benchmark market prices and other opportunities to secure reduced long term prices Assess supplier products to ensure that they comply with specifications and meet quality standards Analyse and evaluate supplier bids, tenders, proposals or quotations Negotiate prices, delivery conditions/incoterms and commit to purchases with terms that are in the company’s best interest Interpret inventory requests, production schedules, purchase requisitions, orders and other documents to co-ordinate purchasing activities daily Monitor KPIs and hold regular business review meetings with suppliers Achieve year on year spend savings Work collaboratively with internal customers (engineering, finance, stores, production - etc) Required Education & Qualifications Experience of purchasing in a manufacturing industry Able to demonstrate good communication skills, both internally and externally across all levels. Ability to analyse data and charts, and propose effective policies Excel/ Word/ PowerPoint and Outlook office skills Able to demonstrate supply chain management principles across a diverse supplier base. Ability to demonstrate a track record of cost reduction achievements through price negotiation or partnering with suppliers to engineer out cost of the product or supplier process. CIPS qualification would be an advantage SAP functional knowledge and usage would be an advantage
