What You'll Do As a CAD Design Technician, you will support the design and drafting of electric utility projects while collaborating with engineering, construction, and field teams. Responsibilities Create and modify utility design drawings using AutoCAD. Support overhead and underground electric distribution projects. Prepare construction drawings, permit packages, and project documentation. Perform basic engineering calculations and develop cost estimates. Review easements and project requirements to support accurate designs. Analyze GIS Smallworld data and incorporate updates into project drawings. Interpret electronic pole diagrams and convert them into construction-ready designs. Process permits and maintain accurate project records. Coordinate with multiple departments to support project construction schedules. Conduct field visits to gather site information and verify existing conditions. Assist with inspections, testing documentation, and utility infrastructure assessments. Ensure all work complies with safety standards, utility requirements, and regulatory guidelines. Required Qualifications Associate degree in CAD Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field. Experience using AutoCAD through work, internships, coursework, or projects. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to perform measurements, calculations, and technical documentation accurately. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally for field work. Ability to pass a math and measurement assessment. Preferred Qualifications GIS Smallworld experience. Utility, construction, engineering, or infrastructure-related experience. Exposure to electric distribution systems. Experience with permit packages and utility documentation. Familiarity with overhead and underground utility construction practices. Work Environment Approximately 60-65% remote/home office work initially. Approximately 30-35% field work , with field activity ranging from 20-45% depending on project needs. Future transition to a local office environment is anticipated. Local travel required to perform site visits, field verification, and data collection.
