We are seeking an experienced Immigration Lawyer licensed in Ontario to join our team. This role is ideal for a lawyer who enjoys operating in a diverse immigration practice while providing legal oversight and supervision of a collaborative administrative team in a modern, technology-driven, fully remote environment.
What You'll Do
As an Immigration Lawyer, you will manage your own immigration files while providing legal oversight and supervision of the firm's immigration administrative team. You will ensure that applications are prepared accurately, comply with applicable immigration legislation and policy, and meet the firm's standards for quality and client service.
Legal Practice
You will independently manage a broad range of Canadian immigration matters, including:
Corporate Immigration
- Intra-Company Transfers (ICT)
- ICT Start-up Work Permits
- Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIAs)
- Global Talent Stream
- CUSMA, CETA, Francophone Mobility and other International Mobility Program applications
- Employer Portal compliance
- Employer compliance matters
- Work permit extensions and strategic immigration planning
Permanent Residence
- Express Entry
- Provincial Nominee Programs (OINP, BC PNP, AAIP and other Provincial Nominee Programs)
- Employer-supported permanent residence applications
- Family sponsorships
- Humanitarian & Compassionate applications
- Other permanent residence pathways
Legal Oversight & Supervision
In addition to your legal practice, you will:
- Supervise the day-to-day legal work of the firm's immigration administrative team.
- Review applications, legal submissions, and supporting documentation prior to filing to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with IRCC requirements.
- Provide legal guidance and direction to administrative staff throughout the preparation of immigration applications.
- Monitor file progression to ensure applications are prepared and submitted in a timely manner.
- Assist with training and mentoring team members on immigration procedures, legislative requirements, and firm processes.
- Identify and resolve legal or procedural issues that arise during file preparation.
- Maintain quality assurance standards across all immigration files.
- Work collaboratively with management to improve workflows, efficiency, and client service.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess:
- Active membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- Minimum two (2) years' experience practising Canadian immigration law.
- Demonstrated experience with employer-based immigration, including ICTs, LMIAs, and the International Mobility Program.
- Experience preparing and managing Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) applications.
- Experience with Express Entry, family sponsorships, and permanent residence applications.
- Excellent legal drafting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and file management abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to independently manage files from initial consultation through final decision.
- Experience supervising or mentoring staff is considered a strong asset.
