Primary Function/General Purpose of Position The primary function of the Cardiovascular Registry and Accreditation Manager is to assume management responsibility for abstracting, tracking, and presenting compliance to the performance standards established by the American College of Cardiology (ACC), Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), Virginia Cardiac Services Quality Initiative (VCSQI), and other cardiovascular regulatory bodies. This role participates in the cornerstone activities related to the quality of cardiovascular care in a Comprehensive Cardiovascular Service Line, which includes a multi-disciplinary approach to the evaluation of quality improvement, and the quality of cardiovascular data. Essential Job Functions Attends and manages all cardiovascular related accreditation activities for the Market through management of a quality data abstraction team: American College of Cardiology (ACC) Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) Virginia Cardiac Services Quality Initiative (VCSQI) American Heart Association, Get with the Guidelines Oversees the required data abstraction positions and interface with QCentrix to populate and present required reports quarterly for all above named accreditations and others as needed. Maintains all cardiovascular program documentation of activities for compliance and accreditation, for quality performance. Participates in and ensures accurate documentation of all qualitive initiatives in accordance with the standards / accrediting body templates for above named accreditations. Facilitate quality reporting updates to physicians and hospital leadership teams as it pertains to the above accreditations. Gathers and documents cardiovascular improvement program activities as it relates to accreditation efforts and improvement with overall performance for the service line. Ensure proper collection and maintenance of documentation and quality reporting to ensure compliance with the standards for all above named accreditations. Collaborates with the quality department in tracking for outcomes annually and participates in special studies as requested by the Medical Director for Cardiovascular Service Line, HVSL Committee, Service Line Director, and Administration. Oversees the completion of the quality improvement initiatives that directly support HVSL performance annually as required by accrediting bodies. Leads policy and procedure development, revision, and implementation to maintain compliance with current state and national guidelines, standards, and coding regulations. Serves as active member of the Heart and Vascular Service Line. Provides Cardiovascular quality performance support to physicians, including working with staff physicians to select patients for discussion, prepares registry information for patient care discussions, as well as maintains documentation of abstraction activity and performance. Tracks compliance with the standards for above named accreditations and reports updates to committees quarterly and recommends corrective action to Service Line Medical Director and Heart and Vascular Service Line Council if activity falls below the annual goal or requirements. Serves as a professional role model, mentor, and subject matter expert resource. Monthly audit compliance with the standards by physicians and submit report to Manager (Synoptic Operative Standards). Attends local, state, regional or national education activities as recommended by the Service Line Medical Director and Supervisor to maintain knowledge and understanding of current guidelines, standards, and coding rules to ensure compliance. Provides Cardiovascular quality performance support to physicians, including working with staff physicians to select patients for discussion, prepares registry information for patient care discussions, as well as maintains documentation of abstraction activity and performance. Licensing/Certification Cu rrent Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) (required) Education Two year Associate degree in major meeting NCRA requirements (required) Four year Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare related major (preferred) Work Experience Minimum of three years of experience as a Cardiovascular Data Specialist.
