The Center for the Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) in the School of Education and Human Development seeks a qualified Project Management Professional 1. The incumbent will become part of a vibrant team of faculty, students, and staff conducting research on teacher learning in both pre-service teacher education programs, as well as in professional development settings. Projects focus on teaching across content areas, but some have a particular focus on elementary mathematics teaching. Responsibilities Data-related Work Analyzing student work and assessment data to monitor progress and inform targeted instructional support. Using diagnostic assessment data to identify skill gaps and design individualized intervention plans. Auditing training/curriculum modules for accuracy and completeness prior to platform migration. Project coordination Tracking, facilitating, coordinating project and partnership work including on-site visits. Drafting project protocols, agendas, and schedules. Keeping research records organized and confidential. Reviewing budgets, estimating costs, projecting expenses. Supporting platform migration of training materials. Communication Collaborating with instructional/curriculum, faculty mentors, and post-doctoral trainees. Generating reports for schools and other outside partner audiences. Gathering materials and preparing annual and final reports to the funder, including budget justifications. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree required, degree in Psychology, Economics, Sociology, Education or related field preferred Experience: 2+ years of relevant experience required. Candidates with 4+ years of relevant experience may be hired as Level 2. Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree preferred Classroom teaching experience in elementary mathematics and/or language arts are preferred. Experience in elementary or middle school literacy instruction Background in science-of-reading-aligned literacy instruction and assessment, including specialized coursework/certification in literacy assessment and intervention Ability to troubleshoot technology issues independently is required. Mastery in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), G Suite (Google Calendar, Sheets, Docs, Forms, etc.) and web applications is essential. Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are essential. Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to multitask are required, as is attention to detail. Ability to take initiative and work independently, lead and facilitate cross-functional groups, and the ability to interact collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders and research team are all required. Ability to work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining professionalism is necessary. Physical Demands This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs. Salary Range The anticipated salary is $68,000+, commensurate with education and experience. Position Type & Work Location This is an exempt-level, benefited position. Learn more about UVA benefits .
