Department Overview: The Center for East Asian Studies (CEAS), a unit in the UW-Madison Institute for Regional and International Studies (IRIS), and part of the International Division, has an opening for a graduate student project assistant for Fall 2026. The project assistant appointment will be at 50 percent and require 20 hours of work per week, with compensation at the standard 50 percent PA level and full tuition remission and other assistantship benefits. The purpose of the PAship is: (1) to assist in the management of CEAS communications (email and social media) to various constituencies; 2) to help CEAS locate and compile data for grant applications; (3) to write features stories for our annual newsletter and (4) to assist in maintaining an effective and attractive web presence for our various campus, local, national and international constituencies. We are especially interested in applications from students whose academic work focuses on some aspect of East Asia and/or international studies, who anticipate careers that might involve administration to some extent, and who would appreciate receiving training and mentoring in international studies administration. Anticipated Start Date: 08/20/2026 Anticipated End Date (If Applicable): Remote Work Eligibility Detail: Partially Remote Anticipated Hours Per Week: Minimum: 20 Schedule: Flexible, but with the ability to attend some meetings and events during the working day required. The majority of duties can be completed remotely, but some in-person work is required. Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum: Minimum: $39.25 Number of Positions: 1 Qualifications: Experience with Eloqua desired; a willingness to learn Eloqua is mandatory Demonstrated administrative experience, in particular with coordinating faculty/student activities Demonstrated communication and organizational skills A working knowledge of one East Asian language is desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : A working knowledge of the UW WordPress template, and experience with both website design and maintenance is desired; a willingness to learn these is mandatory. Knowledge of Google Docs and Google Drive is highly desired.
