Qualifications: 5+ years as a CIO, CTO or equivalent senior technology executive at a health system or large provider organization 10+ years in leadership roles in healthcare technology at a provider, payer, vendor, or consulting organization Demonstrated ownership of enterprise technology strategy in a healthcare setting — spanning some combination of infrastructure, data, cybersecurity, cloud and clinical applications Track record leading large-scale digital transformation initiatives, including budget ownership and executive accountability for outcomes Working fluency in the current healthcare AI landscape — clinical, operational and administrative use cases, leading vendors, and the practical barriers to scaled adoption Ability to hold a peer-level technical conversation with a CIO, CTO or Chief Digital Officer, and translate the same content into business terms for a CEO, CFO or board Proven ability to build consultative relationships with clients and to influence at the C-suite level Strong business acumen, including experience with financial analysis, business case development and technology investment decisions Exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills, with a track record of public thought leadership Ability to work through ambiguity and incomplete data, and to synthesize insight from disparate sources Ability to work independently while collaborating across a large, matrixed organization Ability to travel up to 40% of the time, often on short notice Preferred Qualifications MD; a physician who has practiced clinical medicine is strongly preferred Prior role as a health system CIO or CTO is the strongest profile for this role Advanced degree in business administration, health informatics, computer science or a related technical field Hands-on experience deploying and governing technology at scale Epic Systems EHR experience with implementation, optimization, and ongoing ownership Experience selecting, negotiating with and managing major technology vendors and OEM partners Prior consulting, advisory or technology sales experience Established presence in the healthcare IT community — publications, podcasts, speaking or professional board service Remote role with opportunity to work out of one of our local WWT offices, if desired. Certain states and localities require employers to post a reasonable estimate of salary range. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $175,000.00 to $200,000.00 annually. Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. It is designed for a former health system CIO or CTO who owned enterprise architecture, infrastructure, cybersecurity, data, AI and clinical systems for a provider organization, and who can now sit across the table from peers holding those same jobs. The Chief Healthcare Advisor's primary customers are the technology executives who control healthcare's largest investment decisions: Chief Information Officers, Chief Technology Officers, Chief Digital Officers, Chief Data Officers and Chief Information Security Officers. Conversations extend to the full C-suite, but they are grounded in architecture, data, and technology. Credibility in this role comes from having done the job, not from having studied it.
