Chief Nursing Officer duties and responsibilities As a leader, Chief Nursing Officer have many responsibilities. In addition to managing nurses, this role consists of administrative work that helps keep the organization running smoothly. On a daily basis, a Chief Nursing Officer’s duties may include: Creating and implementing care standards and policies Maintaining the organization’s accreditation Recruiting, training and supervising staff (including nurses) Balancing budgets for multiple departments Facilitating opportunities for continued staff education Monitoring the staff-to-patient ratio Sourcing new technologies that lead to better patient care and greater efficiency Collaborating with providers, administrators and other department leaders Compensation: $20,000 annually
