Chief Superintendent Pharmacist
Sync-RX. Full time. UK in person or remote, with occasional travel.
About us
Sync-RX is the clinical software behind online pharmacies and private prescribing clinics in the UK. Patients complete a consultation with us, a prescriber reviews it, a prescription is signed, and the order goes to a dispenser. We hold the patient record, the consultation, the clinical decision and the audit trail in one place.
We work with weight management and GLP-1 services, private GP services and community pharmacy groups. Our customers range from a single prescriber to pharmacies turning over tens of millions a year.
The role
You will be the most senior clinical voice in the business, and the named superintendent for the services we run and support. You own how safe prescribing works on the platform, and you make sure our software helps prescribers do the right thing rather than making it easier to do the wrong one.
You will be in the product every day, reading real consultations, changing the questions patients are asked, and deciding what should be blocked, flagged, or sent for review.
What you will do
- Act as superintendent pharmacist, owning clinical governance, standard operating procedures and the responsible pharmacist arrangements.
- Own the clinical rules behind our consultations: what we ask, what disqualifies a patient, what triggers a flag, and what a prescriber must see before they sign.
- Set our position on GLP-1 prescribing: eligibility, BMI thresholds and ethnicity adjustment, dose escalation, contraindications, weight verification, mental health screening, pregnancy and contraception, and when to stop.
- Review live consultations and prescribing decisions, spot patterns, and close the gaps before a regulator does.
- Keep us ahead of the rules: GPhC standards for registered pharmacies and for pharmacies providing services at a distance, MHRA requirements, CQC where it applies, the prescribing of high risk medicines online, advertising restrictions on prescription only medicines, and identity checks and information sharing with a patient's GP.
- Own how we prove a prescription is genuine: prescriber verification, signing keys, advanced electronic signatures and the audit trail behind them.
- Sign off new clinical content, new services and new dispenser connections before they go live.
- Handle incidents, near misses, complaints and recalls, and run the register behind them.
- Support customers directly: help their prescribers and their own superintendents get their service safe and inspection ready, and be the person they call when the regulator does.
- Work with the product and engineering team as an equal, translating clinical risk into what the software actually does.
What we need from you
- GPhC registered pharmacist, in good standing, with no restrictions.
- Experience as a superintendent, chief pharmacist or clinical lead in an online pharmacy or digital prescribing service.
- Deep, practical knowledge of GLP-1 prescribing to patients you never meet in person, including the failure modes: patients underreporting weight, buying from several providers at once, hiding eating disorders, and escalating dose too fast.
- Strong grip on UK law and guidance for prescribing at a distance, including the GPhC's expectations for high risk medicines, record keeping, identity verification and GP notification.
- Comfortable with data protection and clinical record keeping obligations in a regulated setting.
- Able to write a clear procedure and an equally clear decision, and hold the line under commercial pressure.
- Comfortable working in software: reading a consultation flow, testing a change, and telling us plainly when something is wrong.
Nice to have
- Independent prescriber.
- Experience of an inspection or a regulatory investigation at a service you were responsible for.
- Experience of multi site or multi brand governance, where several clinics run on one system.
- Experience with dm+d coding, dispenser integrations, or NHS data standards.
What you get
- Salary depending on experience, plus share options.
- The clinical decision sits with you.
- A direct line to the founders.
- Real leverage. A rule you write once applies to every clinic on the platform.
