Apply Job Type Full-time Description SoftBank Robotics America (SBRA), a member of the SoftBank Group, develops and deploys intelligent robotics solutions at the intersection of artificial intelligence, automation, and real-world business applications. Our technology supports organizations across industries, including hospitality, retail, healthcare, construction and facilities management, in improving operational efficiency and enhancing customer experiences through robotics and automation. As we continue to scale our presence in physical AI and advanced automation, we are building a collaborative, high-performance environment that values curiosity, operational excellence, and disciplined execution. We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer Project Manager to lead the development, integration, and delivery of innovative civil construction solutions for large-scale, complex projects. This role requires a strong foundation in civil engineering and a deep understanding of how civil construction activities are planned, sequenced, and executed in the field. The successful candidate will bridge the gap between engineering requirements, construction operations, and emerging automation technologies to ensure that individual solutions can be successfully integrated into a complete and executable civil works approach. This position is particularly well suited for a Civil Engineer Project Manager who understands the practical realities of earthwork, excavation, grading, trenching, utilities, site development, and heavy civil operations and can translate those requirements into defined operational and technical solutions. Experience with construction automation, robotics, autonomous equipment, or material-handling systems is preferred. What You'll Do: Civil Engineering & Construction Integration Serve as the civil engineering subject matter expert responsible for defining how civil construction activities should be executed and integrated. Develop practical civil work solutions based on project requirements, field conditions, construction methodologies, and available equipment capabilities. Define the appropriate sequence of civil construction operations, including excavation, grading, trenching, earthmoving, material movement, and related site activities. Evaluate whether proposed equipment and technology solutions can meet actual construction requirements, including production expectations, operating limitations, excavation depths, grading tolerances, site constraints, and other field requirements. Identify gaps between technical capabilities and construction needs and work with internal and external teams to develop practical solutions. Ensure solutions are designed around real-world construction requirements rather than individual equipment capabilities alone. Solution Development & Integration Coordinate the integration of multiple construction technologies, equipment platforms, and operational processes into a complete civil works solution. Define operational interfaces and dependencies between individual equipment and technology solutions. Ensure individual solutions work together in the correct construction sequence and collectively support overall project objectives. Partner with engineering, product, technology, operations, construction, and external solution providers to translate field requirements into clear technical and operational requirements. Evaluate technical solutions from the perspective of constructability, field execution, productivity, and scalability. Support the development of repeatable civil construction solutions that can be applied across multiple projects and environments rather than being limited to a single site. Project & Delivery Management Develop and maintain project plans, milestones, schedules, deliverables, and implementation strategies. Track the development and delivery timelines of individual equipment, automation, and technology solutions. Coordinate dependencies between multiple workstreams and ensure required solutions are delivered in the appropriate sequence. Identify schedule, technical, operational, and integration risks and proactively develop mitigation strategies. Lead cross-functional meetings to review progress, resolve issues, and maintain alignment between engineering, technology, construction, and operations teams. Provide clear reporting on project status, milestones, risks, dependencies, and solution readiness. Ensure that technical development remains aligned with field deployment requirements and construction schedules. Field Validation & Constructability Validate that developed solutions meet the operational requirements of the civil construction environment. Work closely with construction and field teams to understand workflow, equipment utilization, production requirements, and site constraints. Participate in field testing, demonstrations, pilots, and solution validation activities. Evaluate solution performance and recommend improvements based on actual field results. Support development of construction methodologies, workflows, and operating procedures associated with new technologies. Ensure solutions can be safely and effectively incorporated into existing construction operations. Automation & Emerging Technology Support the evaluation and deployment of automation technologies within civil construction workflows. Collaborate with technology partners developing autonomous or semi-autonomous construction equipment and related systems. Help translate traditional construction processes into workflows that can be supported by automated equipment and technology. Evaluate equipment and automation capabilities against actual construction requirements and identify operational limitations or development needs. Support integration of multiple automated or technology-enabled systems into coordinated construction operations. Requirements Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. 7+ years of progressive experience in civil engineering, heavy civil construction, site development, infrastructure, or related construction environments. Strong practical understanding of civil construction means and methods. Demonstrated knowledge of construction sequencing and the dependencies between civil work activities. Experience with earthwork, excavation, grading, trenching, underground utilities, site preparation, or similar civil construction operations. Experience managing engineering, construction, technical, or multidisciplinary projects. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, construction plans, and technical requirements. Strong understanding of constructability and field execution. Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple technical teams, vendors, contractors, and stakeholders. Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with construction automation, industrial automation, robotics, autonomous equipment, or technology-enabled construction. Experience integrating multiple equipment or technology platforms into a broader operational solution. Experience working with automated or autonomous dozers, excavators, earthmoving equipment, or similar heavy construction equipment. Experience with material-handling systems or material movement operations. Background working in large-scale industrial, infrastructure, manufacturing, technology, or complex construction environments. Experience working with equipment manufacturers, technology developers, systems integrators, or construction technology companies. Broad understanding of automation technologies, robotics, actuators, sensors and geolocalization technologies. Familiarity with project controls, milestone tracking, scheduling, and technical program management. PE licensure is beneficial but not required. Work Environment and Travel This position is remote, with a preference for candidates located in Texas, Utah, California, or Colorado. Approximately 30% travel is expected to support project activities, field evaluations, equipment testing, solution validation, partner collaboration, and implementation efforts. Travel may include visits to active construction sites, testing locations, equipment or technology partner facilities, and other project-related locations. While the role is primarily remote, the successful candidate must be comfortable working directly in active construction and civil works environments when onsite. Field activities may involve exposure to heavy construction equipment, earthmoving operations, excavation, grading, material movement, and other active civil construction activities. The role requires effective collaboration with geographically dispersed engineering, construction, operations, technology, vendor, and partner teams. Flexibility may occasionally be required to support field testing, deployment activities, critical project milestones, and construction schedules. All onsite activities must be performed in accordance with applicable safety requirements, site procedures, and company policies. Travel: Approximately 30% Benefits: We offer a highly competitive benefits package that includes: Medical, dental, and vision coverage Paid time off and company holidays Retirement savings programs, 401k matching program Performance-based bonus opportunities Professional development and leadership growth opportunities Equal Employment Opportunity SoftBank Robotics America is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees and applicants.
