We are seeking a Clinical Coding Training Educator to join our team, supporting the continuous learning, professional development, and integrity of clinical coding across the organisation. In this role, you will design and deliver comprehensive education programs, onboard new coders, and help drive continuous improvement in coding accuracy and compliance. You will work closely with coding teams, health information managers, and clinical staff to ensure high-quality coded data that underpins funding, reporting, and patient care outcomes. This is a collaborative role that blends technical clinical coding expertise with adult education, mentoring, and stakeholder engagement across a complex healthcare environment. Please note , this is a fully Remote work, applicants can live anywhere in Australia. What You’ll Do You will provide expert clinical coding education, training, and professional development to ensure accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement across all coding processes. Key accountabilities include: Mentor Graduate Clinical Coders, auditing, reviewing their coding as they work through the National Coding Graduate Program Work with the Education team to assist with onboarding, mentoring, and ongoing skill development of Graduate and experienced clinical coders. Translate coding audit findings and quality reviews into targeted education initiatives to address knowledge gaps. Support health information and clinical teams to improve medical record documentation quality and coding accuracy. Build strong relationships with coding managers, HIMs, and clinical stakeholders to foster a culture of continuous learning. Assistance in delivery of regular education sessions, workshops, and updates on coding standard revisions and industry changes. Track, evaluate, and report on training outcomes and progress across coding cohorts. Maintain up-to-date, expert knowledge of Australian Coding Standards (ACS), ICD-10-AM, ACHI, and DRG systems. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across coding quality, documentation, and educational frameworks. What You’ll Bring You are an experienced clinical coding professional with a passion for teaching, mentoring, and upskilling others, backed by a deep understanding of Australian Coding Standards. Advanced clinical coding expertise in ICD-10-AM, ACHI, and ACS standards. Proven experience in clinical coding, health information management, or dedicated coding education/mentoring roles. Strong understanding of DRG classification systems and activity-based funding models. Experience in adult learning principles, instructional design, or delivering clinical education (highly regarded). Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex coding rules into clear, engaging learning content. Ability to build collaborative, supportive relationships across coding, HIM, and clinical teams. High attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and educational outcomes. Commitment to continuous improvement and fostering professional growth in others. Relevant qualification in Health Information Management, Diploma of Clinical Coding or equivalent (Certificate IV in Clinical Classification or higher). Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116/TAE40122) or equivalent training experience highly desirable.
