As Clinical Risk Manager I, you will direct the organization’s day-to-day clinical risk management program and implement initiatives that align with assigned Hospital/Institute and organizational objectives. In this role, you will lead investigations and develop the skills needed to manage significant adverse events, analyze risk management data, and support the development and implementation of risk management education programs. You will serve as a member of the local leadership team, partnering with nursing, care management, medical staff, and other departments to address facility-specific challenges, ensure compliance with standards, and support favorable clinical risk management outcomes while modeling Cleveland Clinic Core Values and behavioral standards. A caregiver in this position works a hybrid schedule from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., with three days on-site and two days remote. Candidates must be able to work on-site at the Indian River location when required and will participate in an on-call rotation approximately one week every 6–7 weeks. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Identify, code, review, and manage clinical event reports for assigned Institutes or Hospitals. Investigate adverse events, interview staff and physicians, and determine reportability, sentinel event status, and need for Root Cause Analysis (RCA). Conduct and facilitate RCAs to identify root and contributing factors and drive sustainable improvements. Identify potential claims and provide timely notification to appropriate departments, including Law and ERI. Present cases to Medical Legal, Huddle I, and Huddle II and ensure timely follow-up. Collaborate with leadership and support teams to establish and achieve clinical risk management goals. Incorporate enterprise priorities, regulatory requirements, and industry benchmarks into risk management practices. Manage processes related to disclosure of unanticipated outcomes and medical errors. Analyze risk and safety event data and present findings to leadership to support informed decision-making. Conduct daily leadership huddles, hospital rounding, and participate in leadership, operational, and Institute/Hospital committee meetings. Provide daily leadership reporting and communicate key risk and safety trends, concerns, and recommendations. Coordinate clinical risk management improvement projects and support enterprise-wide initiatives. Serve as the local clinical risk management expert for the assigned Hospital or Institute. Complete required state reporting accurately and within established deadlines. Perform duties under the guidance of the department leader or experienced Clinical Risk Managers. Provide 24/7 clinical risk management consultation through established on-call processes. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Registered Nurse (BSN) OR Bachelor's degree in a health sciences discipline Five years of clinical experience Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Registered Nursing (RN) licensure One year of risk management, quality management or legal nurse consulting experience Leadership experience Hospital or healthcare industry experience Regulatory experience (Joint Commission, AHCA, or similar organizations) Incident investigation experience Understanding of patient safety events, reportable events, sentinel events, and root cause analysis processes Healthcare and/or risk management experience Physical Requirements: Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information. Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods. Ability to work with physical records or operate a computer or other office equipment. In some locations, ability to travel throughout the hospital system. In some locations ability to move up to 25 lbs.
