NALEJ is hiring a Cloud Engineer to design, secure, and operate infrastructure for cloud-native platforms in AWS. This role supports infrastructure-as-code (IaC), network engineering, and automation efforts across staging and production environments. You’ll collaborate with DevSecOps and R&D to drive secure, scalable deployments aligned with DoD compliance requirements. Job Details Location: Remote (occasional in office in D.C.) Citizenship Requirement: U.S. Citizenship Required Clearance Requirement: Active or Interim DoD Security Clearance Certification Requirement: IAT Level II (e.g., Security+, SSCP, or CCNA Security) Travel: Occasional On-Call: Yes (shared rotation) Responsibilities Design, deploy, and manage AWS infrastructure (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, ECR). Automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform and Ansible. Implement and maintain secure networking across VPCs and subnets. Collaborate with DevOps and engineering teams on deployment strategy. Apply DoD security standards to all infrastructure components. Monitor and optimize infrastructure performance and cost. Maintain infrastructure documentation and run books. Required Qualifications U.S. Citizenship Active or Interim DoD Security Clearance IAT Level II Certification (Security+, SSCP, or CCNA Security) 3+ years experience with AWS infrastructure Experience with Terraform and infrastructure automation Knowledge of IAM policies, VPC design, and cloud networking Strong Linux command-line and scripting (Bash, Python) Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI preferred) Experience with air-gapped environments or AWS GovCloud Background in secure cloud architecture and policy enforcement Familiarity with container orchestration and Kubernetes
