What We're Looking For As a Cloud Security Engineer within the Secure Product & Infrastructure program, you will help operationalize Datavant's Edge Defense and WAAP capabilities across our environments. This is a hands-on role with strong partnership across Engineering. You'll work closely with application and platform teams to onboard services to edge protections, tune security controls, and help ensure internet-facing workloads remain secure and resilient. We're looking for someone who brings a practical, collaborative approach to security and enjoys working with others to solve problems, improve processes, and deliver secure outcomes. What You Will Do Onboard applications and APIs to the WAAP platform, partnering closely with Engineering teams to ensure secure and efficient adoption. Implement and tune WAF protections across supported platforms, balancing strong protection with a positive developer experience. Support edge protection and WAF-related engineering requests, troubleshooting configuration issues and recommending secure implementation patterns. Contribute to Terraform modules and automation pipelines that standardize edge protections and reduce configuration drift. Review infrastructure changes through a security lens and collaborate with engineers to implement secure solutions. Participate in incident response activities and post-incident hardening efforts related to edge-layer detections. Document onboarding processes, operational procedures, and configuration standards to improve consistency and reduce manual effort. What You Need to Succeed Experience working with at least one major cloud provider and familiarity with web application firewall (WAF), WAAP, or edge protection concepts. Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and Git-based development workflows. A strong service mindset and comfort partnering directly with Engineering teams in highly collaborative environments. The ability to balance security and usability, thoughtfully tuning controls to reduce friction while maintaining effective protection. Understanding of secure software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices and the ability to communicate infrastructure and application risks clearly. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience operating in regulated environments or the ability to work within compliance-driven requirements. Openness to using AI-assisted development tools to accelerate infrastructure and security work while applying appropriate validation and oversight. What Helps You Stand Out Experience implementing and tuning WAAP or WAF controls in production environments. Experience improving or standardizing infrastructure patterns to increase consistency and reduce configuration drift. A track record of leading security initiatives from planning through implementation. Experience working in regulated environments and understanding how operational security practices support compliance objectives.
