Ahmia shows users which friends are nearby, recommends relevant events, and supports meaningful social interactions in a secure, privacy-conscious environment. The team is focused on creating intuitive, location-aware features that enhance everyday social experiences for users across Nigeria and beyond.
Role Description The Co-founder & Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is a full-time, remote leadership role based in the Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria. This role is responsible for defining and executing Ahmia’s technical vision, overseeing product architecture, and leading the end-to-end development of the privacy-first social presence platform.
Day-to-day tasks include managing engineering teams, setting coding standards and development processes, and ensuring secure, scalable infrastructure for real-time location and messaging features. The CTO collaborates closely with other co-founders on product strategy, market fit, and technology roadmap, while coordinating with design, marketing, and operations to deliver a cohesive user experience.
The role also involves evaluating emerging technologies, establishing data privacy and security best practices, and representing the technical function in investor and partner discussions. Qualifications

Excellent communication skills for collaborating with co-founders, leading engineering teams, and engaging with stakeholders and partners.
Sales-related skills to support fundraising conversations, contribute to growth strategies, and help position the platform for market adoption.
Marketing and research skills to understand user behavior, assess market opportunities, and align product features with community needs.
Proven experience building and scaling consumer-facing platforms, ideally in social, real-time, or location-based applications.
Background in software engineering with expertise in modern web and mobile technologies, cloud infrastructure, and data security.
Demonstrated ability to recruit, mentor, and manage technical teams in a fast-paced startup environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees or equivalent experience in leadership roles are an advantage.
