Position Summary: This position is responsible for coding interventional radiology and diagnostic radiology services in both Global and Professional settings. The Coding Specialist abstracts clinical information from a variety of medical records, charts and documents and assigns appropriate ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, MIPS codes and modifiers to patient records according to established procedures. The specialist is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field; relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; performs a variety of tasks; and works under general supervision. This position typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Primary Job Duties This is a sedentary role, sitting and/or standing and working at a computer for a minimum of eight (8) hours per day as a full-time employee. Accurately assign codes to medical procedures Correctly assign and sequence codes per coding guidelines and insurance regulations Follow medical coding guidelines and policies. Identify and correct coding errors when found. Notifies coding feedback to Coding Manager. Travel No travel is expected for this position. Qualifications Required Education and Experience High school education or equivalent 2 years previous radiology coding experience One of the following coding certifications is required: CPC, RCC, or CCS. Requires medical terminology experience or education Computer operating systems experience current Windows version. Computer software programs in Microsoft Office Suite Ability to type and use a 10-key accurately Requires at least 2 years' experience in coding or medical records using ICD and CPT coding systems.
