Summary The Associate Commercial Counsel is an entry-level, in-house attorney position and will be the second in-house generalist attorney in the legal department, reporting directly to the company’s general counsel. This position will be an integral part of providing legal advice and support across the company's operations, with emphases on contract drafting and review, dispute resolution, and regulatory compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career attorney to gain hands-on experience in many areas of law, including specifically construction and commercial law. This is primarily an in-office position. Candidates for this position may be required to pass pre-employment and periodic screenings, including background checks, drug and alcohol tests, or other necessary assessments. Salary Range: $110,000 - $150,000 annually Responsibilities include: Support the General Counsel and senior legal staff on commercial, corporate, and risk management matters. Draft, review, and negotiate seven-figure commercial agreements, EPC contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, NDAs, and vendor/supplier contracts. Identify and mitigate risk in contract terms, regulatory compliance, business processes, operations. Monitor compliance in legal and regulatory matters. Resolve contract disputes in coordination with project management and business teams. Manage outside counsel on assigned matters. Maintain contract templates, playbooks, and internal legal guidance documents Monitor and advise on compliance with relevant regulatory, licensing, and industry standards applicable to water infrastructure projects Requirements: J.D. from an accredited law school; admitted to practice law in Utah or Iowa 1 – 5 years of relevant legal experience, especially in litigation, construction law, contracts, etc. Strong drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills Benefits: Competitive salary and performance-based annual bonuses. 401K match up to 6%.
