Join us as a Commercial Strategy Lead to be a part of a team that’s driving forward the energy transition, creating a brighter, more sustainable future for all. As a Commercial Strategy Lead , you'll play a key role in developing commercial and contracting strategies for major substation and transmission projects before they enter delivery. You’ll be responsible for managing the pipeline of projects within your designated region, using this to drive both project and portfolio level conversations. Working closely with procurement, project teams and supply chain partners, you'll ensure the right commercial arrangements are in place to support successful project outcomes and deliver long-term value. This is a highly collaborative role offering the opportunity to influence investment decisions, improve processes, and support projects worth millions of pounds from an early stage. This is a hybrid role which will be primarily home-based, with occasional travel to National Grid offices, site visits and external meetings as required. What You'll Do Proactively collaborate with the business to develop early visibility of the project pipeline within the portfolio. Translate business requirements into clear and actionable commercial & contracting strategies for projects. Work alongside procurement, development and delivery teams to establish the most effective contracting and delivery strategies, tailored to both project and portfolio need. Comprehensive commercial strategy development including staging and packaging of contracts, deployment of Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), NEC main option selection, secondary options and incentivisation mechanisms. Support the transition of projects from development into delivery by ensuring robust commercial arrangements are in place. Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and supply chain partners to drive collaboration and value. Identify and manage commercial, contractual and supply chain risks and proactively address challenges that may arise. Manage and maintain portfolio data, providing insights, updates and reporting to stakeholders. Ensure adherence to commercial and financial processes, governance requirements, and procedures. Contribute to the continuous improvement of commercial processes, guidance and best practice. About you We're interested in commercially minded professionals who can influence stakeholders and navigate complex project environments. You may come from a background in commercial management, procurement, contract management or project management and will bring: Experience working within a large, complex organisation alongside multidisciplinary teams. Experience supporting large capital projects or infrastructure programmes. Knowledge of and experience using construction contracts, ideally NEC contracts. Strong commercial, analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent relationship-building, communication and stakeholder management abilities. Experience managing, interpreting and reporting on large data sets. Construction or infrastructure sector experience would be advantageous. Understanding of the regulatory environment and regulated procurement is desirable. Knowledge of the electricity transmission sector would be beneficial but is not essential. What's in it for you?
