As a Commercial Underwriter , you’ll play a critical role in helping us deliver on that mission by providing accurate and objective credit analysis that supports sound lending decisions and protects the credit union. We’re looking for a detail-oriented financial professional who enjoys analyzing complex financial information, identifying risk, and partnering with lenders to structure strong commercial credit opportunities that benefit both our members and FAIRWINDS . Your Role in Our Mission: Prepare complete and accurate commercial credit analyses in a timely manner Provide an unbiased and objective evaluation of prospective borrowers while identifying and disclosing all associated risks Partner with Commercial Lenders to gather and analyze all information necessary to underwrite credit requests Review and analyze: Corporate financial statements Business and personal tax returns Personal financial statements Real estate owned schedules Liquidity statements Develop detailed cash flow analyses to determine borrower financial strength Determine Borrower Risk Ratings and Loan Risk Ratings Assist in structuring credit requests that align with the best interests of both the member and FAIRWINDS Complete comprehensive Credit Approval Memorandums Prepare financial spreads and supporting analysis Identify opportunities to deepen and expand existing member relationships What Makes You a Great Fit: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field 3–5+ years of commercial credit underwriting experience (credit union or bank experience preferred) Experience partnering directly with lenders throughout the full credit lifecycle Strong analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills Ability to interpret and analyze complex financial statements and tax returns Excellent communication and collaboration skills Experience with nCino, Sageworks, Moody’s, and/or CoStar preferred Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered A Culture of Care and Reward: You give your best, and we give back with a comprehensive and meaningful rewards package: Enjoy 11 paid holidays and generous paid time off to recharge and reset Build your future with a 6% 401(k) match Eligible for a $700 annual contribution to your Health Savings Account Access our comprehensive maternity leave program to support growing families Stay covered with medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance Grow your career through leadership development, tuition assistance, and advancement opportunities Earn rewards for financial wellness through our Debt Free Club and Dave Ramsey’s SmartDollar program Thrive in a purpose-driven, people-first culture where your impact matters This is more than your next job.
