What You Will Do: With mentorship and support from more senior team members, this role will: Support the execution of communications plans for business initiatives and public affairs priorities. Assist with drafting and editing communications materials such as news releases, media advisories, backgrounders, employee communications, presentations, speaking notes, digital content, and key messages. Monitor media coverage, track inquiries, gather background information, maintain media lists, and help prepare materials to support media responses and spokesperson preparation. Seek to understand the business context behind assignments and find opportunities, risks, or considerations that may strengthen communications recommendations. Bring forward observations, questions, and ideas that may improve communications outcomes, audience understanding, or team efficiency. Provide support during issues and crisis situations by gathering information, drafting updates, tracking approvals, and advancing items as required. Coordinate with internal partners to collect information, confirm details, and support the timely completion of communications deliverables. Support the development of digital communications content, including intranet posts, social media copy, digital newsletters, graphics briefs, and campaign materials. Monitor digital communications trends, analytics, and audience engagement to help find opportunities for more effective storytelling. Help test and adopt new digital tools, templates, and AI-enabled practices that improve team efficiency and content quality. Who You Are: University degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Public Affairs, or a related field. One to three years of related communications, public affairs, media relations, or corporate communications experience, including internships or co-op placements. Interest in learning about communications, media relations, collaborating with partners, and the energy sector. Foundational experience supporting communications activities such as drafting materials, monitoring media coverage, preparing briefing notes, or coordinating approvals. Strong writing, editing, research, and verbal communication skills, with attention to accuracy and detail. Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively under the mentorship of more senior team members. Demonstrated curiosity, good judgment, and willingness to learn from feedback and apply lessons to future work. Ability to explore and recommend new tools and AI-enabled solutions that improve efficiency. Strong time management skills. Salary: Ranges from $63,000 – $85,000 CAD for Ontario locations based upon candidate’s experience, skills, and internal equity. Applicable compensation policies and guidelines apply to internal candidates.
