General Summary The Communications Specialist develops and manages communications and publications for agents, policyholders/members, consumers, the field, and the general public. This position supports public relations, brand oversight, company websites, social media, event planning and management, and marketing initiatives. Essential Functions Communications Designs, produces, and distributes internal and external communications for associates, field staff, agents, industry partners, media, the general public, websites, and social media channels using the most appropriate communication methods. Maintains or assists with content updates for company public websites, agent and customer portals, and mobile applications to ensure information is accurate, timely, appropriate, and brand-consistent. Coordinates updates with the I.T. Department and external vendors as needed. Develops and manages company social media content and presence; monitors, tracks, and reports third-party social media references to the Company. Designs print and digital advertisements and drafts ad copy for the Company and agents as assigned. Takes, obtains, edits, and manages photographs for internal and external company projects. Supports on-site and in-studio audio and video production projects. Researches, recommends, and drafts news releases, feature stories, blog posts, and other written content. Supports and manages Ohio Mutual’s brand standards, including implementation, oversight, and appropriate use. Evaluates company communication processes and tools and recommends improvements. Marketing Designs, drafts, and packages marketing content, collateral, and communication tools that support agency preference, strengthen agency interactions with policyholders/members, and enhance sales performance. Promotes product initiatives and updates through coordinated communication and marketing materials, including agent bulletins, training materials, flyers, brochures, leave-behinds, web content, PowerPoint presentations, and other collateral as appropriate. Creates marketing campaign materials directed to policyholders/members. Participates in strategic planning and campaign development. Conducts demographic and consumer research as assigned. Events Creates promotional and meeting materials and coordinates support for tradeshows, meetings, conferences, and training events for agency, company, and community audiences. Provides on-site support for company-sponsored or company-supported events as needed. OTHER Assists with initiatives that support the company’s community relations goals. Represents the Corporate Communications perspective on interdepartmental committees and in ad hoc meetings. Serves as the Corporate Communications liaison on committees supporting the promotion and communication of sponsored associate activities as needed. Tracks data and prepares periodic reports related to communications efforts. Performs other duties as assigned. Working Conditions Normal office working conditions with remote work option available. Regular in-person work presence preferred (per company policy). Sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Lifting weights up to 25 pounds. Stress associated with meeting multiple deadlines. Periodic overnight travel by automobile or airplane. QUALIFICATIONS Skills and Abilities Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Advanced proficiency with design and publishing software. Working knowledge of HTML or web-editing tools. Experience using a variety of social media platforms. Comfortable working with company leaders and associates at all levels. Ability to interact effectively with agents, members, and vendors. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Self-motivated, collaborative, and enthusiastic team contributor. Education/ Experience Requirements Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. Two to three years of related experience in marketing, communications, or a similar field preferred. Working knowledge of property and casualty insurance, the independent agency system, and Ohio Mutual preferred. SUPERVISION Supervision Received Broad objectives are outlined.
