The internship is a part-time, hybrid (flexible in-person and remote) opportunity. Our team is a dynamic and collaborative group that partners closely with the Institute’s research, clinical and administrative business colleagues to help ensure the Institute’s compliance with a complicated array of applicable standards and requirements. The Compliance Intern will support the Compliance Department with various aspects of an effective compliance program. The Compliance Intern will also have the opportunity to learn about compliance operations and the role of corporate compliance in health care. This role works in close coordination with members of the Compliance Department including the Chief Compliance Officer, Director of Billing Compliance, Privacy Officer, Information Security Officer, and numerous business partners. This individual will assist the Compliance Department in ensuring the Institute’s compliance with applicable federal and state laws, conducting internal investigations, achieving compliance workplan goals and cultivating Dana-Farber’s culture of compliance. Responsibilities may include the following: Completing research and writing projects, as assigned. Research projects may entail review of applicable laws, regulations and Institute policies. Writing projects may include internal memorandum, synthesized summaries for business partners, policy drafting, etc. Collaborating with Compliance Department on root cause analyses, process improvements, monitoring activities, data analytics, etc. Documenting inquiries and investigations in issues management database. Drafting meeting minutes and action items. Attending business-partner meetings with Compliance Officers. Helping develop new compliance training content and guidance. Aiding in completion of Compliance workplan projects. Assisting in Compliance internal investigations Participating in education and training activities. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Excellent communication, interpersonal, written and analytical skills. Strong commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy. Excellent organizational, attention to detail, facilitation, technical and analytical skills. Approach projects with curiosity and open-mindedness and offer new ideas, solutions and/or options. Work productively in a team-structured environment in a collaborative manner. Demonstrate discretion, diplomacy, and good judgment. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and other computer applications. Pay Transparency Statement The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidate’s relevant experience, skills and qualifications. For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). $33,300.00 - $44,400.00
