What We Can Achieve Together: The Southern High Plains region of North America spans five states and includes one of the largest and most intact expanses of grassland habitat on the continent. These iconic grasslands support rich biodiversity and generational working landscapes and are the current and ancestral homelands for numerous Tribal Nations and Indigenous communities. As the Conservation Real Estate Manager, you will work with a five-state TNC team to develop, manage, and complete the land protection projects and transactions that advance TNC's Southern High Plains Initiative. Using a full range of protection tools, including conservation easements, fee title acquisitions, and Purchase, Protect, Resell projects, you will work to protect intact grasslands, habitat for rare and declining species, and the agriculturally productive rangelands of Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas, working directly with ranching families, private landowners, Tribal Nations, federal, state, and local government, land trust partners, and other conservation organizations. This is an individual contributor position responsible for independently leading complex land protection projects across the region. We’re Looking for You: Want to help conserve the working grasslands of the Southern Great Plains? TNC’s five state Southern High Plains Initiative protects intact rangelands at landscape scale, from conservation easements on multigenerational family ranches to the acquisition of entire working ranches through our Purchase, Protect, Resell strategy. We are looking for someone who is energized by complex transactions, comfortable at a ranch kitchen table and in a legal review, and ready to carry significant projects with real independence. This is an exceptional career opportunity for a highly motivated, capable individual interested in joining the world’s leading conservation organization! What You’ll Bring: BA/BS, law or business degree and 3 years' experience in land conservation, real estate, natural resource management, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with principles of land acquisition. Experience negotiating complex agreements. Experience managing multiple projects and timelines. Experience developing partnerships with landowners, government agencies, conservation organizations, or community groups. Experience crafting and sustaining compelling written narratives for grant proposals, funder communications, and project pitches. Experience using applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Web Browsers. This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with TNC’s Auto Safety Program . Employees may not drive Conservancy-owned/leased vehicles, rental cars, or personal vehicles on behalf of the Conservancy if considered "high risk drivers." To learn more about the Auto Safety Program, visit the Auto Safety information page . Employment in this position will be contingent upon completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement, which may include a review of the prospective employee's motor vehicle record. Salary Information: The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $75,000 - $95,000/annually . This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment. Who We Are: The Nature Conservancy’s mission is to protect the lands and waters upon which all life depends.
