Job Summary

We're seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to join our team and support the preparation of accurate cost estimates for painting projects across residential and commercial sectors. The role involves reviewing architectural drawings, performing digital take-offs, and preparing detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs) using estimating software. You'll work closely with the client's project management team to clarify scope, pricing, and deliverables, ensuring all estimates are precise, competitive, and aligned with project requirements.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in construction estimating, excellent attention to detail, and familiarity with Australian industry standards and painting systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and interpret architectural drawings, plans, and specifications
• Perform accurate take-offs (area, linear metre, volume) using digital estimating software
• Prepare comprehensive BOQs for painting projects across residential and commercial sectors
• Collaborate with the project management team to clarify scope, pricing, and deliverables
• Assist in developing detailed cost breakdowns for quotes and tender submissions
• Identify and flag risks, variations, and incomplete information in project documents
• Maintain organised records of all take-offs, measurements, and costing data
• Participate in the ongoing improvement of estimating systems and processes
  
  

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in construction estimating (painting or general trades preferred)
• Proficiency in digital take-off software such as Buildxact, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar
• Strong understanding of painting systems, substrates, and surface preparation requirements
• High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and tender documentation
• Strong organisational and time management skills to meet deadlines
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote team environment
• Familiarity with Australian construction standards and industry
