Construction Advisory Practice Our Construction Advisory Practice consists of engineering and construction professionals with practical industry experience, who have advised on an extensive range of projects across multiple industry sectors in domestic and international contexts. Most of our professionals are either civil, mechanical, electrical or chemical engineers, quantity surveyors, or architects by training and background, many of whom have supplemented their technical disciplines with further commercial qualifications, including construction and contracts management, international arbitration and dispute resolution, finance and construction law. We are seeking a Consultant to join our Construction Advisory team, who is looking to establish a career in engineering and construction focusing on claims and dispute resolution, delay analysis, project advisory services, construction cost analysis and controls, construction planning and scheduling. As a Consultant, you will be partnered frequently with subject matter experts, giving the unique opportunity to work with a diverse set of clients and projects. Areas of focus that you would be involved in include the following. Job Responsibilities Assisting in advising clients in the engineering and construction space Review and assess project change orders, including scope, costs, and schedules Review and analysis of project schedules, including delay analysis Loss of productivity and inefficiency analysis Calculation of damages including increased material, labor costs, or additional subcontractor costs Analysis of extended general conditions and other time-related costs Review and interpretation of drawings and specifications Assist in preparation of expert reports and presentations Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering with disciplines such as Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, etc. or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management. Microsoft Office - Advanced skills preferred, especially in Excel, Word, and Powerpoint Bluebeam, Adobe, or other PDF management software Scheduling software - Microsoft Project or Primavera Products Position requires that you come into the designated office on a hybrid schedule. Can be either a recent graduate or someone with 1-3 years of experience in the engineering or construction industry including internships Physical and Mental Job Qualifications Must be able to remain in a stationary position during work shift Must be able to travel both in the United States and internationally Character Requirements Maintains Project Focus : Sees things through to completion, deals effectively with potential obstacles and exhibits the flexibility to adapt to whatever a situation calls for. Work is completed within designated timeframes. Take proper action when time frames cannot be met to ensure the work of others is not compromised. Uses non-billable time effectively. Independently Project Leader : Has the capability to work independently in client facing environment. Can grasp overall objectives of a project and make recommendations that align with client and J.S. Held’s interests. Analytical Thinker : Ability to systematically collect, organize, and interpret data from multiple sources to support observations and provide decision making guidance to clients Skilled Communicator : Effectively communicates at all organizational levels, both in writing and orally. Maintains confidentiality of clients and J.S. Held. Prioritizes Quality of Work : Has strong work ethic, taking care to produce accurate work. Has mechanisms in place to check work and ensure the quality of work being produced is accurate and timely.
