Summary: In this role, you will lead complex consulting engagements that improve performance across Surgical Services, with a focus on Physician Preference Items (PPI). You will apply deep subject-matter expertise, structured problem solving, data interpretation, and consultative judgment to identify improvement opportunities, shape evidence-based strategies, influence senior client decisions, and deliver measurable clinical, operational, and financial outcomes. You will guide engagements from discovery through implementation, serve as a trusted advisor to senior healthcare leaders, and strengthen consulting capabilities through mentorship, thought leadership, and continuous improvement of consulting solutions. Responsibilities: Lead complex Surgical Services and PPI consulting engagements from discovery through implementation, including scope definition, stakeholder alignment, analytic review, recommendation development, and value realization. Conduct structured discovery, stakeholder interviews, and current-state assessments to clarify business challenges, identify performance gaps, validate root causes, and define improvement opportunities. Plan and oversee analytic work that integrates clinical, operational, financial, and supply chain data to generate strategic insights, quantify opportunities, and support actionable recommendations. Develop evidence-based strategies and business cases that improve cost efficiency, reduce clinical variation, strengthen operational performance, and advance patient care quality. Design client-specific implementation roadmaps, governance structures, change management approaches, and adoption strategies that support sustainable performance improvement. Manage complex consulting workplans, priorities, timelines, budgets, resources, risks, dependencies, and deliverables to achieve expected client value. Facilitate executive-level and cross-functional working sessions that align clinical, operational, financial, and supply chain leaders around priorities, trade-offs, decisions, and implementation actions. Serve as a trusted advisor to senior and C-suite client leaders by synthesizing complex information, framing strategic options and implications, influencing decisions, and recommending paths forward. Build and maintain trusted senior-level client relationships to understand strategic priorities, shape engagement direction, and strengthen commitment to recommended actions. Establish success measures, monitor progress against expected outcomes, and communicate performance improvement and value realization throughout the engagement lifecycle. Guide sustainable implementation and adoption of Vizient tools, technologies, analytics, and supporting resources in collaboration with client teams. Mentor less experienced consultants on data analysis, interpretation, storytelling, consulting methodologies, client facilitation, and application of advanced techniques and best practices. Advance consulting practice capabilities by improving products, services, tools, and methodologies; developing and applying reusable intellectual capital and case studies; contributing thought leadership; and collaborating with Spend Management and cross-functional teams to strengthen consulting offerings. Qualifications: Relevant degree preferred. Clinical degree preferred. 7 or more years of relevant experience required. Service line management experience in surgical services or perioperative departments required. Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and AI-enabled productivity tools required. Proven ability to analyze financial, operational, and quality data and translate findings into actionable performance improvement strategies. Strong consulting, structured problem-solving, project leadership, and change management skills. Exceptional verbal, written, presentation, and facilitation skills with the ability to influence senior and executive-level clients. Ability to work independently while effectively leading and collaborating across cross-functional teams. Ability to travel regularly and expeditiously throughout the year to meet clients’ needs and timetables. Estimated Hiring Range: At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances.
