Gather and review all necessary underwriting information including but not limited to financial statements, tax returns, rent rolls and operating statements, liquidity statements, projections, credit reports, legal documents, etc. to determine the degree of risk involved and the proper risk premium for acceptable risks. Accepts risks that meet underwriting standards and declines those which do not, within assigned scope of broad underwriting authority. Review real estate purchase contracts, title reports, appraisals, and environmental reports for collateral evaluation. Maintain up to date knowledge of and adhere to relevant NCUA, federal, and state lending regulations, and Jovia loan policies, procedures, and underwriting guidelines. Validate all Jovia loan policies and underwriting guidelines have been met prior to submitting to Management and MBL Committee for decisioning. Closely monitor changes in economic conditions, real estate market, and industries pertaining to Jovia’s credit exposure. Perform other duties, in addition to normal responsibilities, to help the overall workflow of the department and other departments as assigned by the Manager. When needed, resolves member issues pertaining to business practices, policies and procedures. Promote positive attitudes, cooperation, and desire to cross-sell the Credit Union’s products and services. Attend the required training sessions annually, as outlined by the department head or as assigned by Learning and Development, including any required JOVIA University Classes. What we need from you: Bachelor’s degree required. A degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting preferred. Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in commercial and CRE lending underwriting required. Must be formally credit trained. Must have extensive knowledge and experience in the commercial real estate lending and submarket in the NYC metro area. Must possess excellent underwriting and credit analysis skills. Must possess excellent communication (verbal and written) skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products Individual must function with minimal supervision, have a positive attitude, and impart a team player mentality. Must be able to handle multiple projects and tasks and meet deadlines. Detail oriented, excellent analytical skills, aptitude for figures and computer/Internet savvy. Work From Home and Hybrid Requirements: This particular position is Hybrid and requires in-office / plus work from home days to our offices in Westbury, New York: Internet speed of 100 mbps or higher required (you can test this by going to www.speedtest.net). Able to dedicate a quiet space for daily work that is free of sound interruptions.
