NAIT’s Department of Continuing Education is seeking a Contract Instructor to teach Meatcutting/Butchering and is willing and capable of teaching specifically in Indigenous communities across Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Yukon, Nunavut, and the Northwest Territories. The role involves travel and accommodation in remote areas, with daytime availability required from Monday to Friday. Some weekend availability may be required. The term of these contracts will vary in length of time and duration. Contract Instruction Deliverables: Utilize appropriate tools & equipment to instruct students & provide practical hands-on learning Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials Utilize appropriate educational technology for communications and presentations Maintain professional ethical relationships with students and colleagues; respond professionally to student issues and concerns Maintain student attendance and other documentation as required Apply safe work practices to butcher and process game Separate quarters of game into primal, sub-primal and retail cuts Prepare handmade fresh and smoked sausages Skills and Knowledge: Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive, respectful relationships with diverse learners and colleagues A strong commitment to student success, including motivating learners and supporting academic achievement Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, suitable for instructional, advisory, and collaborative settings Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and related educational technologies Qualifications: Professional Meatcutting and/or Butchering Certification Instructional experience considered an asset Strong English verbal and written communication skills Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills Excellent classroom management and instructional skills A high level of independence is required.
