Truss is a software development consultancy that builds government technology people actually want to use. Our systems regularly show up in the New York Times, and when we ask our team what they love most about working here, the answer is consistently the same: the people. We’re collaborative, we hold ourselves to high standards, and we care deeply about the craft of making government services work better. We have been a remote-first organization since our inception and are passionate about work-life balance, building impactful teams, and committed to creating environments that encourage collaboration, different points of view, and creative solutioning. We are seeking a mid-level Mulesoft Engineer to join one of our client teams on a contract basis through April 2027 with the potential of extension. This contract is for 35 hours per week. Rate $85 - $93/hour depending on experience. Responsibilities: Design and implement a comprehensive automated testing strategy for MuleSoft integrations. Build and maintain automated integration, API, regression, and end-to-end test suites. Identify gaps in existing test coverage and improve overall integration quality. Troubleshoot integration defects and perform root-cause analysis across Salesforce, MuleSoft, and downstream systems — using findings to close systemic gaps in test coverage, not just fix one-off bugs. Partner with Salesforce developers, MuleSoft developers, QA engineers, and product teams to ensure reliable deployments. Improve CI/CD pipelines to incorporate automated integration testing. Establish testing standards, best practices, and quality metrics (e.g., test coverage %, integration defect rate, MTTR) for enterprise integrations. Document testing patterns and coverage so the broader team can maintain and extend the suite going forward, rather than the knowledge sitting with one person Required Experience 5+ years of experience developing MuleSoft integrations. Experience managing test data and environments for integration testing, including Salesforce sandbox environments and simulating external dependencies that are unavailable or unsafe to call in test Experience building automated API and integration tests (e.g., MUnit, Postman/Newman, REST Assured, Karate, or similar frameworks). Strong understanding of REST APIs, asynchronous messaging, authentication (OAuth), and error handling. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes. Ability to analyze complex cross-system issues and improve overall platform reliability. Preferred Eligibility: You must be eligible to work in the U.S. and may be required to pass a federal background check at the discretion of the client/project you are placed on. Truss employees must live and work within the contiguous U.S. Unfortunately, we are unable to sponsor work visas at this time. Full-Time Employees enjoy full benefits, generous PTO, a co-working budget, an employee effectiveness budget, and company-wide transparency around salaries and career leveling ( view the Truss Leveling Guide ).
