Coordinator, Settlement Services – People and Program Leadership Fixed Term (until March 31, 2029), Full-Time | Hybrid – Edmonton | Leadership Position We thank all applicants for their interest. About the Role The Coordinator, Settlement Services is a people leader responsible for supervising staff, guiding day-to-day program operations, strengthening service quality, and supporting an integrated approach to settlement services. While “Coordinator” is the organizational title, this is not primarily a frontline service-delivery position. The successful candidate will focus on leading and developing staff, overseeing service delivery and caseloads, supporting complex case consultation, strengthening program practices and referral pathways, monitoring performance, and working with the Program Manager to continuously improve services. We are looking for someone ready to lead people and programs. Someone who can coach staff, create accountability, make sound operational decisions, navigate complexity, and help a team deliver excellent services to newcomers. About Settlement and Integration Services Settlement and Integration Services supports newcomers through information and referrals, skill development, case management, and personalized settlement support. The service area includes four core programs: Core Settlement One-on-One Support and Group Workshops Complex Case Management Enhanced Settlement Worker in Schools (ESWIS) Rainbow Refuge (LGBTQIA+ Supports) Together, these programs provide a continuum of support for newcomers and refugees with different settlement needs and levels of complexity. The Coordinator directly supervises Settlement Practitioners and supports volunteers and practicum students. The role works across the service area to strengthen collaboration between programs, support effective staff practice, promote seamless referrals, and ensure newcomers receive timely, appropriate, and client-centered support. What You’ll Do Directly supervise, coach, mentor, and develop Settlement Practitioners. Establish clear expectations and support staff performance, accountability, professional development, and leadership capacity. Lead team meetings, reflective supervision, case consultations, and practice discussions. Provide guidance and decision-making support for complex client situations. Support recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, performance management, volunteers, and practicum placements. Foster a collaborative, accountable, trauma-informed, strengths-based, and client-centered team culture. Coordinate day-to-day operations and service delivery across Settlement and Integration Services. Monitor caseloads, referrals, workloads, client outcomes, program data, and performance indicators. Strengthen connections and referral pathways between programs. Identify emerging client needs, service gaps, and opportunities to improve accessibility and service quality. Support the implementation of new processes, programs, and service-delivery approaches. Support quality assurance, documentation standards, program evaluation, continuous improvement, and funder and organizational reporting. Build and maintain relationships with community agencies, government partners, settlement organizations, schools, and health and social service providers. Represent the Newcomer Centre at community networks, working groups, and collaborative initiatives. Support operational planning, resource allocation, scheduling, and budget monitoring. Ensure compliance with organizational policies, funder requirements, FOIP, Occupational Health and Safety requirements, and applicable legislation. Participate in organizational committees, projects, and strategic initiatives. Contribute to integrated service delivery and model a workplace culture grounded in compassion, empowerment, accountability, and interconnectedness. What It Takes Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop staff and volunteers. Strong understanding of settlement services, case management, newcomer integration, and community-based service delivery. Proven ability to build collaborative relationships and partnerships across sectors and diverse communities. Excellent communication, facilitation, conflict-resolution, and presentation skills. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to changing client, community, and funder needs. Experience using data and reporting systems to monitor performance and support evidence-informed decision-making. Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, anti-oppressive practice, trauma-informed practice, and client-centered service delivery. Cultural humility and the ability to work effectively with diverse newcomer populations. What You Bring Post-secondary diploma or degree in Social Work, Human Services, Community Development, Settlement Studies, Sociology, Psychology, Public Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Minimum three years of progressive experience in settlement services, human services, community services, or a related field. Demonstrated experience directly supervising staff, including coaching, providing feedback, supporting performance, and developing team members. Experience coordinating or overseeing service delivery, programs, caseloads, or operational activities. Strong understanding of newcomer experiences, immigration pathways, settlement challenges, and community-based service delivery. Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with community organizations and stakeholders. Experience with program monitoring, reporting, documentation, and client information management systems. Strong communication, facilitation, conflict-resolution, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and database systems. Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation. Successful Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Record Check. Preferred / Asset Qualifications Experience leading teams in a nonprofit, settlement, human services, or community-based environment. Experience working within funded programs and navigating funder requirements, outcomes, and reporting. Experience supporting organizational or program change, service redesign, or integrated service delivery. Multilingual abilities or lived experience that strengthens understanding of newcomer communities. AAISA Certified Settlement Practitioner designation. Working Conditions This is primarily an on-site leadership position involving regular interaction with staff, newcomers, families, community partners, and other Newcomer Centre teams. The role includes exposure to complex client situations involving crisis, trauma, and emotional stress and requires the ability to provide calm, thoughtful leadership and guidance to staff. Some evening or weekend work may occasionally be required for community events, outreach activities, or organizational initiatives.
