The Cost Accounting Analyst supports the company’s manufacturing cost accounting activities, including inventory valuation, cost of goods sold, standard costing, and variance analysis. This role partners closely with Accounting, Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure accurate product costs, provide visibility into manufacturing performance, and support month-end close and financial reporting. Key Responsibilities Maintain and analyze standard costs for raw materials, labor, overhead, and finished goods. Analyze manufacturing variances, including material usage, purchase price, labor, overhead, and production variances. Support inventory accounting, reconciliations, valuation, and reserve analysis. Prepare and review COGS and inventory-related journal entries and account reconciliations. Support month-end and year-end close activities related to manufacturing and inventory. Investigate cost and inventory discrepancies and partner with Operations to resolve issues. Assist with physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and inventory controls. Analyze production costs, yields, scrap, and other manufacturing performance metrics. Prepare recurring cost reports and provide analysis of trends and key drivers. Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis related to manufacturing costs. Assist with internal and external audit requests related to inventory and cost accounting. Identify opportunities to improve cost accounting processes, reporting, and internal controls. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 2–4 years of cost accounting. Manufacturing experience strongly preferred; food and beverage experience is a plus. Public accounting experience is a plus. Understanding of inventory accounting, COGS, standard costing, and variance analysis. Strong Excel and analytical skills. Experience working with ERP and accounting systems. Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and investigate discrepancies. Ability to communicate effectively and work cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, and other teams. CPA or progress toward CPA certification is a plus.
