Changing the Way Money Moves Enabling Modern Payments for the World’s Leading Brands Marqeta seeks a Counsel, Product & Regulatory to help shape the future of payments technology. As a key member of the legal team, this role provides strategic legal guidance on complex regulatory matters impacting Marqeta’s innovative card issuing platform. The Counsel will advise on laws and regulations governing prepaid, debit, and credit card products—including EFTA/Regulation E, Durbin/Regulation II, TILA/Regulation Z, and card network rules—ensuring the integrity and compliance of Marqeta’s financial products. This position partners closely with cross-functional teams to assess legal risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and support the launch of new products and features. The Counsel will monitor regulatory developments, collaborate with sponsor banks and customers, and manage outside counsel as needed. Success in this role requires strong business acumen, advanced problem-solving skills, and the ability to drive complex projects to completion in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience practicing law in fintech, banking, or at a reputable law firm, with deep expertise in the payments ecosystem. A JD degree and active State Bar membership are required, along with excellent communication skills and a collaborative, proactive approach.
