Counsellor/Case Specialist  Child Welfare, Youth and Family Services Brisbane, QLD • ID: 5384-689 • Full-Time/Regular Our specialist service works with male survivors of sexual violence across Queensland. In this role, you’ll provide counselling and a range of in person and online specialist supports to help them overcome the impact of experiencing sexual violence. 54 reasons is Australia’s leading child rights organisation – no ordinary not-for-profit. A place to make a difference: In this 5 day fortnight (38 hours), fixed term contract role (through to mid-September 2027, parental leave cover), you’ll provide counselling and case management support to male survivors of sexual violence and victims of violent crime. Based in Brisbane, you’ll be a member of our QLD Programs team and report to our Team Leader. You will make a difference by: Providing specialist support, psychoeducation, counselling, information, referrals and case management to males with complex needs and males who have experienced sexual assault Conducting thorough risk and needs assessments, within a trauma informed case management framework Offering specialist services including providing brief counselling interventions, completing financial assistance applications, and providing education on court processes Assisting victim/survivors to develop emotional regulation strategies and providing additional holistic support A place to feel valued: You’re an experienced counsellor or case manager with high levels of initiative and flexibility alongside cultural sensitivity and knowledge. You have experience in working with men and young males, and you’re able to respond calmly and effectively in complex situations. Importantly, you possess a thorough understanding of the impact of sexual assault and are able to apply that within a trauma-informed practice framework. This role requires: A Bachelor of Counselling, Social Work, Psychology or relevant Human Services Qualification and/or significant experience in a similar role Knowledge and understanding of counselling frameworks and the impact of sexual assault on individuals Experience working within a counselling role or similar Strong teamwork and communication skills Current drivers’ licence and Blue Card Suitable space to work from home in a hybrid model of both office and home-based service delivery A place to belong: At 54 reasons, we invest in the development and wellbeing of our people.
