livingHR's is currently supporting a nonprofit organization in the Chicago suburbs with their search for a Chief People Officer. POSITION SUMMARY The Chief People Officer is responsible for developing and executing People strategy in support of our ongoing and Strategic plans, in the areas of safety, Equity and Inclusion, talent management, training and compensation, and organizational culture. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Member of the Executive Team collectively responsible for overall success of the organization, including positive mission impact, and a strong culture and financial position. Responsible for all People Management strategies, including talent acquisition, succession planning, compensation and benefits, and team retention, training, and leadership development. Ensure People processes and practices are in compliance with all applicable State and Federal statutes. Responsible for the organization's Equity and Inclusion strategies, including working cross-functionally to successfully meet internal and external goals, and managing our Board of Directors and Internal Committees. Responsible for the organization's Safety strategies, including workers’ compensation and safety initiatives, managing our Internal Safety Committee, and collaborating with the Executive Team to ensure effective training and a safety-conscious culture. Advises all Executive Team members in recruiting, managing and developing their teams. Builds and maintains a positive culture that embraces the organization’s mission, vision and values, and assures strong team productivity, efficiency, and morale. Manages a progressive and proactive compensation and benefits program to motivate, incentivize and reward the team and provide for their health and welfare. Works with internal and external stakeholders in identifying, developing and delivering training and development strategies to grow the organization's talent pipeline and succession bench. Creates and oversees team benefit plans and works with outside brokers to ensure proper administration of plans. Works collaboratively with the CEO’s office and Marketing team to develop and implement team communications and events. Designs and implements a team policy and consults on policy matters. Perform other related duties and/or responsibilities as assigned or required. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s Degree Human Resources, Business Management or related area required. SHRM-CP, Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification or Certified Payroll Professional preferred. 10+ years Generalist experience, with seven years in leadership capacity. Experience in a manufacturing or distribution center environment preferred. Proficient in in Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proven success in oversight of all areas of people management.
