Creative Strategist (Performance Creative)

DigiCom (Digital Commerce Corporation)

Is this job info correct?

Read this before you apply.

Most agency job posts are written to attract everyone. This one is written to filter.

DigiCom is a two-time Inc. 5000 performance marketing agency based in NYC. We scale D2C and e-commerce brands across paid channels, and our clients pay us because their revenue is our scoreboard. That pressure runs through everything we do, including this posting.

Creative strategy is its own discipline here: research, teardowns, angle development, briefing, QC. We are building a dedicated team to own it end to end, working side by side with the US Growth Managers who run the accounts.

You are not supporting the creative. You are the creative engine.

This is not a graphic design role. This is not a content creator role. You are a strategist who lives in customer psychology, competitor teardowns, and ad performance data.

The hard gate

Only apply if you have 2+ years in performance creative for D2C or e-commerce brands: writing ad briefs, developing angles, and directing creative output that ran with real budget behind it. You also need fluent written and spoken English (your briefs get executed by US editors without follow-up questions) and full-time availability on US Eastern hours. This is a real-time collaboration role, not an async one. Applications missing any of these will be rejected.

Do not apply if you want:

  • A design or editing job. You will direct designers and editors. You will not be one.
  • Constant direction. Your Growth Manager sets the account goals. How you research, ideate, and hit your numbers is yours to own.
  • Activity to count as achievement. Shipping briefs is not winning. An ad only counts as a win here when it spends at least 5X the target CPA and holds a ROAS at or above the account average. Money spent in testing that never earns its way to scale is a loss, and we track it.
  • To hide from your numbers. Your scorecard is three metrics with public weights, reviewed quarterly. You will always know exactly where you stand, which also means you can never pretend not to.
  • A slow, comfortable pace. Once ramped, the baseline is 15 to 20 production-ready briefs a week across 5 to 7 accounts, with strict handoff SLAs. Volume is part of the strategy, never at the cost of the thinking behind it.

If any of that sounds unreasonable, we're glad you found out now. No hard feelings.

Apply immediately if you crave:

  • Pattern recognition at unfair speed. You will see spend, hooks, hold rates, and CPAs across multiple brands and categories every week. Most strategists get one brand's worth of data per year. You will get years of learning in months.
  • A full AI stack, and permission to use it. Experiment. Break things. Build your own workflows. If you find a better way to run research or generate variations, we adopt it across the team.
  • Real leverage, not busywork. Your Growth Manager owns the client relationship and the status calls. Your time goes into creative thinking.
  • Direct feedback. No mystery, no politics, no performance review that arrives six months late.
  • Genuine ground floor. This is the first creative strategy team we have built. The people who help define it will be the ones who lead it.
  • Competition. You want your ads to be the ones that scale, and you want the scoreboard to prove it.

The mission

Simple to describe, hard to do: feed our media buyers a constant supply of ads that win.

And to be precise, because precision is the job: a winning brief is one whose ads spend at least 5X the target CPA and hold a ROAS at or above the account's monthly average. Beating the media buyers' baseline is the whole reason a dedicated strategist exists.

Creative research and competitor audits. Mine customer reviews, Reddit threads, TikTok comments, and forums for real pain points and desire triggers. Run Meta Ad Library teardowns on competitors and identify what is scaling and why. Build and maintain persona maps for every brand you own: who they are, what they believe, what stops them from buying, what language they use.

Performance data translation. Review weekly ad performance with your US Growth Manager. Isolate the winning hooks, formats, and angles. Kill what is not working. Turn every result into the next round of tests. No guessing.

High-velocity briefing. Write complete, precise briefs: hook variations, visual direction, UGC scripts, headlines, on-screen text, reference examples. Build real variation into every brief, so one brief yields 2 to 6+ distinct ads, not one asset with a color change. Your brief should leave zero open questions for the editor or designer. Meta's delivery rewards a wide, diverse creative pool, so volume is part of the strategy.

Creative production oversight. QC every asset before it goes live. Does it match the brief? Does it hit our standard? Send it back when it does not. Your name is on the output.

AI and tooling execution. Use AI to accelerate research, storyboards, and copy variations. Improve our internal prompts and workflows and share what works with the team.

The numbers you own

We are showing you the actual scorecard before you apply, because we would rather lose applicants

now than surprise employees later. Your quarterly grade is three weighted KPIs:

  1. Blended Spend Share (40%). The percentage of total account spend running on ads from your briefs. This is the North Star, because the algorithm votes with budget. When your concepts win, the media buyers scale them, and your share climbs. Target: 50%.
  2. Scaling Success Rate (35%). The percentage of your briefs that graduate from testing to scaling under the win definition above. Target: at least 10%.
  3. Output Velocity (25%). Production-ready briefs shipped. Target: 120 per quarter, which is the 15 to 20 per week baseline.

Score 80%+ and you unlock quarterly performance bonuses, with a higher tier at 90%+. Below 70% starts an honest conversation, fast. Nothing about your standing here will ever be a mystery.

Your first 90 days

Days 1 to 30: Absorb. Learn our process, our brands, and our tools. Complete our internal creative strategy training. Ship your first briefs with close review. Goal: your briefs need minimal edits.

Days 31 to 60: Own. Take full creative ownership of your assigned brands. Run your own research cycles and competitor audits. Present angle recommendations directly to your Growth Manager. Goal: steady production at a clean quality bar.

Days 61 to 90: Drive. Your creative is measurably contributing to account performance. You are spotting winning patterns before anyone asks and proposing tests instead of waiting for them. Goal: your Growth Manager trusts your creative judgment without checking it.

What you need Non-negotiable

  • 1.5 to 2+ years in performance creative for D2C or e-commerce (the hard gate)
  • Fluent English, written and spoken
  • Daily hands-on use of AI tools. You know where they help and where they don't.
  • Full-time availability on US Eastern Time

Also required

  • Deep working knowledge of Meta Ads, including how Andromeda changed creative volume requirements
  • Persona mapping and customer research as a repeatable process, not a one-off exercise
  • Comfort reading performance data: CPA, ROAS, hook rate, hold rate, thumbstop
  • Sharp copywriting instincts in English for US consumers
  • Organized in Monday, Slack, Asana, or similar

Nice to have

  • Experience with supplements, beauty, pet, or CPG brands
  • Basic editing skills in CapCut or Premiere
  • Experience directing UGC creators
  • TikTok Ads

  • How you work

    • Curious. You genuinely want to know why people buy.
    • Fast. You move in hours, not days.
    • Detail-obsessed. A sloppy brief creates a sloppy ad.
    • Coachable. You take direct feedback and apply it immediately.
    • Self-driven. Remote means nobody is watching. You still deliver.
    • Competitive. You want your ads to be the ones that scale.

    Compensation

$1,500 USD per month, plus quarterly performance bonuses that unlock at an 80%+ scorecard grade, with a higher tier at 90%+. Strong strategists here are meant to earn above base, and the path to doing it is written down.
