BotHub is a non-custodial automated trading platform that allows users to connect their own exchange accounts and run systematic trading strategies directly on their accounts.

We support major crypto exchanges and markets including Binance, Bybit, Kraken and Hyperliquid, with more than 2,400 registered users across 85+ countries.

We're looking for someone with a track record of developing systematic crypto trading strategies that hold up beyond the backtest.

The Role

You'll research, develop, test and improve systematic crypto trading strategies for deployment on BotHub.

We're particularly interested in futures and perpetual markets, including strategies capable of trading both long and short and using leverage within a defined risk framework.

We are not looking for impressive backtest results alone.

We want strategies that demonstrate robustness on data they were not developed or optimised against.

That could include walk-forward testing, genuine out-of-sample testing, forward testing or verified live performance.

What You'll Do

- Research and develop systematic crypto trading strategies.

- Build strategies for spot, futures and perpetual markets.

- Develop systems capable of both long and short exposure.

- Design appropriate position sizing, leverage and risk controls.

- Validate strategies using walk-forward, out-of-sample and other robust testing methods.

- Test whether strategies remain effective across different assets and market regimes.

- Identify overfitting, look-ahead bias and other weaknesses that can produce misleading results.

- Take successful research through to automated deployment.

- Monitor deployed strategies and identify degradation or changing market behaviour.

- Work alongside our technical team to improve our strategy research and testing infrastructure.

Who We're Looking For

The most important requirement is a demonstrable track record of developing systematic crypto trading strategies.

You may have developed them professionally, independently, for your own capital or as part of another trading project.

We care much more about what you've built and how you've validated it than your academic background or previous job titles.

You should be able to demonstrate that you understand the full process:

Hypothesis → Development → Validation → Unseen Data → Live/Forward Performance

We're particularly interested in candidates who understand why a strategy works, where it is likely to fail and how to distinguish genuine robustness from overfitting.

Coding & AI

You need to be able to demonstrate experience building and working with quantitative trading code, but we do not require any particular programming language.

BotHub is an AI-first company and we actively use AI throughout our development process.

We have no issue with candidates using AI to write, debug or improve code.

What matters is that you understand the code you're working with, can explain how it works and can verify that it is doing what you think it is doing.

We care about your ability to solve problems and produce reliable systems — not whether you typed every line manually.

What Counts as a Track Record?

A backtest alone is not sufficient.

We're looking for evidence that your strategies have been tested beyond the data they were developed on.

Examples include:

- Walk-forward or genuine out-of-sample results

- Forward-testing results

- Verified live trading history

- Exchange records or read-only performance access

- Public strategy performance

- Professional references

- Research, code or other evidence demonstrating your methodology

You will not be expected to disclose proprietary alpha or hand over the logic of a successful strategy simply to apply.

Because this is a remote role and we expect a high number of applications, we will review evidence before inviting candidates to interview.

1. What systematic crypto trading strategies have you developed?

Briefly describe the type of strategies, markets and timeframe involved.

2. How did you validate them?

Explain how you used unseen data, walk-forward testing, forward testing or live trading to determine whether the strategy was genuinely robust.

3. What evidence can you provide?

This could include verified performance, exchange history, research, code, public results or other supporting material.

4. What experience do you have with futures, perpetuals, leverage and shorting?

5. Tell us about a strategy that looked promising but failed further testing.

What exposed the problem, and what did you learn from it?

Shortlisted candidates will then be invited to a technical discussion focused on their previous work and approach to strategy development.

For candidates progressing further, we may use a paid, scoped research assessment using market data.

We do not use unpaid take-home projects.
