Culture and Engagement Officer

Alzheimer's Society
Posted 6 hours ago
🇬🇧United Kingdom🏢Hybrid📁People & Talent
Is this job info correct?

Every day at Alzheimer's Society, our employees and volunteers come together to help people affected by dementia face the future with help and hope.

From providing support and funding research to raising awareness and influencing change, every person plays an important part in our mission. But to make the biggest difference, we need our own people to feel supported, included and able to thrive.

Could you help create a culture where everyone feels heard, valued and able to make a difference?

As our Culture and Engagement Officer, you’ll help make that happen.

You’ll bring people together, listen to what matters to them and help turn their ideas into action. You’ll support our Employee Forum and Volunteer Advisory Panel, deliver engagement surveys and use insight to help shape the way we work.

Do you believe that the best organisations listen to their people? Are you motivated by creating positive change?

This is an opportunity to play a key role in strengthening our culture and helping bring our values to life. You’ll work with employees, volunteers, managers and leaders across the Society to create a more connected and inclusive organisation.

Location - You’ll work from home, with regular travel into London and occasional travel to meetings and events across the UK.

Interviews are provisionally scheduled to take place on the 9th September via MS Teams.

What you’ll do

What happens when people feel listened to? They feel valued, involved and ready to make a difference.

That’s where you come in.

You’ll help create opportunities for employees and volunteers to share their views and influence decisions. You’ll make sure their voices are heard and their feedback leads to action.

You’ll:

  • Support and coordinate our Employee Forum and Volunteer Advisory Panel, helping these groups represent the views of employees and volunteers across the Society.
  • Manage the annual election process, creating a positive and inclusive experience for everyone involved.
  • Plan and deliver employee and volunteer engagement surveys, from gathering feedback to sharing findings and supporting action.
  • Review feedback from different sources, identify key themes and share insights in a clear and engaging way.
  • Write internal communications, including updates, briefings and intranet content.
  • Help design and deliver activities that strengthen our culture and bring our values to life.
  • Build trusted relationships with employees, volunteers, managers and senior leaders.
  • Manage your workload, balance priorities and deliver work that supports our wider goals.
  • Champion inclusion and support volunteering, helping everyone feel respected, valued and able to contribute.

About you

Are you someone who believes that listening can lead to better decisions?

You’ll enjoy working with people, understanding different perspectives and finding ways to make things better. You’ll be organised, curious and enjoy bringing people together around a shared purpose.

You don’t need to have followed one particular career path. What matters is how you use your skills, build relationships and create positive change.

We’re looking for someone who can bring:

  • The ability to support or coordinate groups such as employee forums, advisory groups, leadership groups or other representative groups.
  • The ability to manage surveys or other ways of gathering feedback, from collecting responses and analysing results to sharing findings with different audiences.
  • A proactive approach, with the confidence to take ownership, suggest improvements and work collaboratively to make them happen.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage different priorities, meet deadlines and keep work on track.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills, with the ability to understand information, identify key messages and share clear recommendations.

Above all, you’ll share our values. You’ll be determined to make a difference, believe we are better together and approach your work with compassion.

We know that no one will meet every requirement. If this role feels like the right opportunity for you, and you believe you could make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.

About Alzheimer's Society

Dementia is the UK's biggest killer. One in three people born in the UK today will develop dementia in their lifetime.

At Alzheimer's Society, we're the UK's leading dementia charity and the only one to tackle all aspects of dementia by giving help and hope to people living with dementia today and in the future. We give vital support to people facing the most frightening times of their lives, while also funding groundbreaking research and campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be.

Together with our supporters, we're working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.

Our values make sure that our focus is clear for the challenges and opportunities ahead and remind us of what we all stand for.

Our commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging

We need to ensure the voices around our table better reflect and understand the communities we exist to serve. We strongly encourage individuals to apply who have a disability, impairment or health condition or individuals who identify as Black, Asian or from another minority ethnic background, as these groups are currently under-represented at Alzheimer's Society.

We want everyone we work with, as a colleague, volunteer, supporter, or someone we support, to feel included and that they belong at Alzheimer's Society.

Our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy here along with our internal employee forum and Employee Lived Experience network groups help us promote inclusion and belonging, becoming an engaged and inclusive organisation for all our people.

Our hiring process

During your recruitment process we want to make sure that you bring your whole self and can be at your best. We are working hard to ensure our recruitment process is as inclusive as possible, so please do inform us of your experience and anything you think we could do better by completing our candidate survey when you apply. Please also contact Alzheimer's Society Talent Acquisition Team via [email protected] for application support or any adjustments you might need.

To ensure fairness and consistency to select the best candidate for this role, all our applications are anonymised up until an interview has been confirmed. We recognise the benefits of AI, but if you're considering using it to submit your application, we encourage you to reflect on the value it truly adds. AI tools often lack the personal touch and authenticity that set candidates apart. We want to hear your unique perspective, experiences, and skills, so we encourage you to showcase them in your own voice.

We try to avoid closing roles early where possible, however if we receive a high volume of applications, we may close earlier than the advertised closing date. Should this occur, we will aim to provide you with at least 48 hours' notice.

We are committed to safer recruitment and ensuring the welfare of those we work with, due to the nature of some of our roles, we might need to carry out a Criminal Record Check at the relevant level. You can read more information via our Website.

Giving back to you

Our employees work hard every day to make a true difference in people's lives. We are proud to support them with a range of benefits, recognition and many options for working agilely, all contributing to a strong work life balance. We also have various learning programmes to support you in your development and help you grow to realise your potential and shape a career with Alzheimer's Society.

You can also visit our Working for Us pages, which give you more information about what it's like to be an employee at the Society.
