Location: Torrance / Hybrid Employment Type: Full-Time Industry: Education Technology (EdTech) Position Overview A global education technology company is seeking a Curriculum Developer / Instructional Designer to support the continued expansion of its digital learning programs in the U.S. market. This position will be responsible for designing and developing engaging educational content for children using tablet-based learning technology. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of the U.S. education system and experience developing curriculum, instructional programs, or educational content with firsthand experience in U.S. education. Ideal candidates understand how children learn, what motivates them, and how curriculum can be designed to support long-term academic development. This is an exciting opportunity for an educator or curriculum professional who wants to expand their impact beyond the traditional classroom and help create learning experiences that can reach thousands of students. Key Responsibilities Design and develop digital curriculum and educational content for students in the U.S. market Create engaging learning experiences that help children enjoy learning while building measurable academic skills Develop curriculum structures, lesson sequences, learning objectives, and educational activities based on students' developmental and academic needs Apply knowledge of U.S. educational standards, classroom practices, and student learning needs to product development Translate educational concepts into interactive, age-appropriate digital learning experiences Evaluate existing curriculum and identify opportunities for improvement or expansion Research trends and developments in U.S. K–12 education and incorporate relevant insights into curriculum design Collaborate with product, content, technology, and education teams to develop and improve digital learning programs Support the development of curriculum for additional grade levels and subject areas as the U.S. program continues to expand Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Instructional Design, Child Development, or a related field Professional experience in one or more of the following: K–12 classroom teaching Curriculum development Instructional design Educational content development EdTech or digital learning Experience independently developing or significantly contributing to curriculum, lesson plans, educational programs, or instructional materials Strong understanding of the U.S. education system and the academic and developmental needs of U.S. students Ability to think beyond individual lessons and design learning experiences with longer-term educational outcomes in mind Strong written communication, organization, and project management skills Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and international teams Preferred Qualifications Former or current U.S. K–12 educator with hands-on curriculum development experience Experience teaching or developing curriculum across multiple grade levels Experience developing digital or technology-based educational content Experience with elementary or middle school curriculum development Background in Mathematics, English Language Arts (ELA), Science, or other core academic subjects Experience working for an EdTech company, educational publisher, curriculum provider, or similar organization Familiarity with state or national educational standards in the U.S. Experience designing curriculum by working backward from long-term learning outcomes or later-grade academic expectations Japanese language skills are a plus, but not required Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate combines practical knowledge of how students learn in the U.S. with the ability to think like a curriculum designer . Rather than simply creating individual worksheets or lessons, this person can think strategically about questions such as: What should students understand by the end of a grade level? What foundational skills will they need to succeed in later grades? How can digital learning make difficult concepts more engaging and accessible? How should learning activities be sequenced to help students build skills over time? Candidates who have worked directly with children and understand the needs and perspectives of both students and families may be particularly well suited to this role. About the U.S. Learning Program The company's U.S. digital learning program continues to expand each year, with additional grade levels and subject areas being introduced over time. Current and future curriculum development may include Pre-K through middle school , as well as expansion beyond Mathematics and English Language Arts into areas such as Science and other academic subjects . This role will have the opportunity to contribute directly to that growth and help shape educational experiences for a rapidly expanding population of learners. Why This Opportunity For educators who want to expand their impact beyond a single classroom, this position offers an opportunity to apply their teaching and curriculum expertise on a much larger scale. Instead of reaching students one classroom at a time, you will help design learning experiences that have the potential to reach thousands of children each year . The position also offers a hybrid working arrangement, with flexible office attendance potentially available depending on the candidate's experience and location. Flexible work from home options available. Compensation: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
