Is this job info correct?

StarTech.com is seeking a Customs and Trade Analyst who will transform complex customs, trade, operational, and financial data into actionable insights that strengthen compliance, control costs, and improve supply-chain performance. This is more than a traditional customs-compliance position. It is an analytical, supply-chain-oriented role that connects Customs & Trade with the broader business. You will examine duties, tariffs, landed costs, trade programs, inventory, and transportation data to identify risks and opportunities, support informed decisions, and improve visibility across our global supply chain. Reporting to the Director, Global Distribution & Logistics, you will work closely with Global Sourcing and Sourcing & Procurement, Finance, Supply Chain & Logistics, Operations, Legal and Compliance, and the Customs & Trade team. You will also collaborate with external customs brokers, trade consultants and counsel, regulatory authorities, and solution providers when appropriate. This hybrid position requires the successful candidate to work 3 days a week from StarTech.com’s U.S. Distribution Center in Groveport, Ohio. What You’ll Do As the Customs and Trade Analyst, you will: Analyze duty, tariff, landed-cost, and trade-program data to uncover cost-saving opportunities and provide insights that inform sourcing, supply-chain, and financial decisions. Partner closely with Global Sourcing and Sourcing & Procurement to evaluate the customs, tariff, and landed-cost implications of business decisions. Build, maintain, and enhance dashboards, reports, analytical models, and data visualizations that improve visibility across customs compliance, inventory, transportation, and overall supply-chain performance. Work with large, complex datasets from multiple sources, validate the accuracy of the information, identify trends and anomalies, and translate findings into clear, actionable business recommendations. Conduct trade-compliance audits and monitor tariff classification accuracy to identify risks, gaps, and opportunities for corrective action or continuous improvement. Reconcile Foreign Trade Zone data, investigate discrepancies, and identify anomalies that may affect reporting, compliance, operational performance, or financial outcomes. Support the evaluation of duty drawback, first-sale valuation, tariff engineering, FTZ operations, and other trade-optimization opportunities where applicable. Collaborate across Finance, Supply Chain & Logistics, Global Sourcing, Operations, Legal and Compliance, and Customs & Trade to support business objectives and regulatory requirements. Communicate technical, regulatory, operational, and financial findings in a way that is clear and useful to stakeholders who may not have specialized customs or supply-chain expertise. Work with customs brokers, trade consultants and counsel, regulatory authorities, and technology or solution providers to support analysis, compliance requirements, and business initiatives. Evaluate analytical tools and reporting processes, recommend improvements, and help establish scalable data-management and reporting practices across supply-chain functions. Independently identify analytical needs, prioritize projects, and determine the most effective methods, tools, and reporting solutions to address business challenges. Skills & Knowledge Data Analytics and Reporting Strong proficiency with data-analysis and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Excel, or equivalent platforms. You can develop models, dashboards, reports, and data visualizations that make complex information easier to understand and use. Analytical Thinking and Problem Solving Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to assess information from multiple sources, recognize patterns, identify risks and opportunities, and recommend practical solutions. Data Accuracy and Process Improvement Experience validating data, conducting audits, improving reporting processes, and creating scalable analytical practices. You bring a high level of attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy. Business Communication The ability to translate complex technical, regulatory, and operational information into clear recommendations for a variety of audiences. Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills are essential. What You Bring To succeed in this role, you bring: The ability to work with large datasets and turn detailed analysis into recommendations that support operational or financial decisions. Strong organization and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and changing business needs in a dynamic environment. A high degree of ownership, accountability, and sound judgment when evaluating data, identifying risks, and recommending next steps. The confidence to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders across Global Sourcing, Finance, Supply Chain & Logistics, Operations, Legal and Compliance, and Customs & Trade. Curiosity and adaptability when existing reports or processes do not provide the visibility needed, along with the initiative to develop new analytical approaches and decision-support tools. Professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive financial, compliance, and operational information. The ability to work with a high degree of autonomy while escalating significant compliance concerns, financial risks, or strategic decisions when appropriate. Comfort working for extended periods on a computer, reviewing detailed information, developing reports, and participating in meetings. Availability for occasional travel to support business initiatives, team collaboration, or vendor meetings. Education & Experience Required Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Economics, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related discipline. Three to five years of experience in data analytics, supply-chain analytics, trade compliance, logistics, or a related analytical role. Experience working with large datasets and developing reporting solutions that inform operational or financial decisions. Proficiency with analytical and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Excel, or equivalent platforms. Working knowledge of supply-chain operations, logistics, customs, and trade-compliance concepts. Preferred Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, e-commerce, or high-SKU environment. Knowledge of customs compliance, tariff classification, trade programs, or Foreign Trade Zone operations. Exposure to duty drawback, first-sale valuation, tariff engineering, FTZ operations, or similar trade-optimization programs. Professional certification in data analytics, supply chain, logistics, or trade compliance. What to Expect from the Hiring Process We respect your time and value transparency.
