WaterNSW is seeking an experienced Dam Safety Emergency Management Officer to join our team. You'll play a critical role in strengthening WaterNSW's emergency preparedness capability and supporting the safe management of critical dam infrastructure across NSW. Leading the coordination, development and continuous improvement of Dam Emergency Plans (DEPs), ensuring they remain compliant, effective and ready to support emergency response when needed. Working closely with operational teams, emergency services, regulators and other key stakeholders, you'll help build organisational capability through training, exercises and preparedness initiatives that enable our people to confidently recognise and respond to potential dam safety emergencies. What you’ll do: Develop, maintain and periodically review Dam Emergency Plans (DEPs) for WaterNSW's declared dams, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practice. Design and deliver onsite practical and desktop exercises on the DEPs by simulating dam failures and WaterNSW’s response and coordination with other emergency agencies. Support the ongoing development of emergency response capability by ensuring staff involved in dam safety management are trained, prepared and equipped to respond effectively during emergency situations. Collaborate with emergency services, government agencies, regulators and internal stakeholders to strengthen preparedness, response coordination and stakeholder relationships. Track and report on emergency management performance, training outcomes and compliance activities, using insights and lessons learned to drive continuous improvement. What we are looking for: Tertiary qualifications in emergency management, risk management, training and assessment, or a related discipline, and/or equivalent demonstrated experience. Experience in emergency management, incident management, or a related operational environment. Demonstrated experience developing, reviewing and maintaining emergency management plans, ideally within a regulated or critical infrastructure environment. Experience designing and delivering training programs, emergency exercises and readiness activities, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and facilitate discussions with confidence. Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build productive relationships across operational teams, emergency services, government agencies and other key partners. Experience preparing Dam Emergency Plans (DEPs) or working within the dam safety, utilities, water, infrastructure or emergency services sectors.
