About The Role

The Data Analyst at UnitedHealthcare plays a vital role in supporting the organization’s quality improvement initiatives through comprehensive data analysis and reporting. This position involves working closely with the behavioral health team and other internal stakeholders to monitor, analyze, and interpret healthcare data related to physical and behavioral HEDIS measures. The Data Analyst will be responsible for preparing for and supporting NCQA HEDIS audits, developing dashboards and reports, and providing actionable insights to leadership to enhance healthcare quality and performance. This role offers flexibility to work remotely within the U.S., with specific in-office requirements for candidates in Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. The successful candidate will contribute to the organization’s mission of delivering high-quality, accessible healthcare by ensuring data accuracy, supporting strategic decision-making, and fostering continuous quality improvement.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience writing and maintaining SQL queries for data extraction, analysis, and reporting
  • 2+ years of experience working with healthcare-related data, including analysis, validation, and performance monitoring
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, dashboards, data analysis, and reporting
  • Proven analytical and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights
  • Ability to support data-driven decision-making and quality improvement initiatives
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for and actively participate in the annual NCQA HEDIS audit process, including documentation gathering, auditor responses, measure logic validation, and supporting audit deliverables
  • Monitor, analyze, and trend HEDIS and quality performance data monthly to identify gaps, emerging trends, and opportunities for improvement
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, PivotTables, and reports to support quality programs, HEDIS performance, Star Ratings, PIP initiatives, and other clinical quality measures
  • Utilize SQL to extract, validate, analyze, and interpret healthcare data from multiple sources to support reporting and operational decision-making
  • Collaborate with internal teams, provider groups, informatics, and leadership to ensure data accuracy and support quality initiatives
  • Prepare and update executive-level presentations, reports, and visualizations communicating performance results and strategic insights
  • Provide actionable recommendations to leadership for performance improvement and intervention areas
  • Support development and enhancement of data processes, reporting activities, and validation procedures
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and workgroups, providing expertise on healthcare data analytics and quality measures
  • Assist with ad hoc analyses, special projects, and strategic initiatives aligned with organizational goals and regulatory standards
