Role & Responsibilities Utilizes various data analysis tools and software (like SAS, SQL, Excel, R, Python, Tableau, etc.) to manipulate and analyze data, identifying trends in data to pinpoint variances, outliers, and percentile-ranked groups that provide actionable insight opportunities for quality improvement or in-depth investigations. Collaborates with other data analysts to create tabular and graphical presentations that clearly illustrate current levels of care, ensuring complex data is accessible and understandable for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Contributes to the design of re-measurement strategies to assess the efficacy of interventions, leveraging analytical reports to effectively quantify their impact on healthcare improvement. Provides data preparation and cleaning. Develops and implements statistically sound sampling methodologies. Applies highly developed methods analyzing trend data to identify potential opportunities, variances, significant outliers, and percentile-ranked groups for quality improvement or focused investigations. Designs data analysis strategies to identify potential areas for quality improvement or focused investigation, ensuring epidemiological soundness. Develops epidemiologically sound indicators of the quality of care and processes to analyze data to summarize into quality indicator values. Benchmarks external standards of care for comparative purposes and adapts the organization's standards of care to meet benchmarks. Instructs team members on best practices for writing draft reports and preparing draft manuscripts for publishing in peer-reviewed journals, ensuring clear and concise illustration of current levels of care. Develops industry-leading interventions, such as educational materials for doctors and nurses, aimed at improving healthcare processes and outcomes. Designs re-measurement strategies after interventions to effectively quantify the impact of interventions for improvement. Consults on re-measurement data and summarizes it into quality indicator values, contributing to the development of comprehensive reports. Mentors junior Data Analysts in all technical aspects of their work, leveraging developed expertise with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in the field. Develops code to join multiple relational database tables required to conduct various analyses. Supports onboarding of new associates. Experience / Expertise Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Public Health or related discipline (e.g., Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science) required. One (3) to three (5) years of relevant professional experience. Minimum of 2 years of hands-on SAS or other statistical programming work experience or demonstrated combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of healthcare systems, Medicare/Medicaid preferred, healthcare databases and coding systems. Experience with health-related analytic research and quality improvement methodology (ISO, CQI, TQM, Six Sigma, Lean, Etc.) preferred.
