Boston, MA • Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center • Full-time Remote • Day Job Summary: The research data specialist will support the Breast Oncology clinical research program in the area of data collection. Duties include the examination and evaluation of medical records; the abstraction and recording of pertinent medical information; and the monitoring of patient status. The research data specialist will be responsible for the collection and quality assurance review of patient clinical data. Job Description: Essential Responsibilities: Responsible for reviewing and abstracting the medical records for research patients Entering identified clinical data points into the corresponding database. Ensuring the quality and completeness of the data entered. Ensuring that data is entered within the outlined timelines No supervisory responsibilities and no patient contact Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required. 1-3 years related work experience required. Excellent organizational and communication skills required Strong interpersonal skills Must be Detail oriented Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize workload Must practice discretion and always adhere to institutional confidentiality guidelines Must have computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office Preferred Qualifications: Understanding of medical terminology and/or experience in medical record review. Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate full working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations. Team Work: Ability to work collaboratively in small teams to improve the operations of immediate work group by offering ideas, identifying issues, and respecting team members. Customer Service: Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude and respond to requests in a timely and respectful manner. Physical Nature of the Job: Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally in carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling objects. Sitting most of the time, with walking and standing required only occasionally Pay Range: $21.64 - $34.62 The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
