Data Engineering · Newcastle upon Tyne, UK Remote / Hybrid · Hybrid Data Engineer We are looking for an ambitious Data Engineer who will play a crucial role in helping us design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines and infrastructure. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient data processing, storage, and accessibility. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on industry-leading best practices in data engineering while gaining hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies in cloud environments. You will have opportunities to work on bespoke customer deliveries as well as our Seriös ONE suite of data platform products. What you’ll be doing: Design, build and maintain scalable, secure and reliable data pipelines and data platforms. Implement data engineering best practices, ensuring data integrity, quality, governance and security. Develop and maintain data models using Data Vault and Kimball methodologies to support analytical and operational use cases. Build solutions using structured and unstructured data sources, transforming data into trusted business assets. Design, develop, test and deploy high-quality Python and SQL solutions using modern software engineering practices. Contribute to CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, monitoring and DataOps practices to improve delivery quality and efficiency. Optimise data storage, processing and retrieval solutions for performance, scalability and cost efficiency. Collaborate with clients and internal teams to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions. Contribute to solution design, technical decision making and continuous improvement of engineering standards and delivery frameworks. Support data migration, integration and modernisation initiatives across a range of cloud platforms. Mentor and support junior team members through peer reviews, knowledge sharing and technical guidance. Evaluate and contribute to the adoption of emerging technologies, including AI-enabled data engineering capabilities. The above list is non-exhaustive; you may be required to carry out any ancillary duties in relation to your role, in addition to the abovementioned list. Experience we’re looking for: Experience in a data engineering role within a cloud-based environment. Proven experience designing, building and supporting production data pipelines and ETL/ELT solutions. Strong Python and SQL skills, including developing reusable and maintainable solutions. Experience working with cloud data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure, AWS, GCP, Databricks or Snowflake. Strong understanding and practical application of Data Vault and Kimball modelling methodologies. Experience working with APIs, data integration patterns and large-scale data processing. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control and DevOps/DataOps practices. Experience with Infrastructure as Code tooling such as Terraform is desirable. Understanding of data governance, data quality, security and compliance best practices. Experience working directly with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver data solutions. Experience mentoring junior engineers or supporting peer review activities would be advantageous.
