Data Engineer (Azure & Microsoft Fabric) – Remote | 6-Month Contract

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join a full-time, remote project for a 6-month contract. This role is ideal for professionals who have strong expertise in Azure Data Services and Microsoft Fabric, and who enjoy building scalable data platforms, modern analytics environments, and enterprise-grade data solutions.

Role Overview

As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing data platforms and analytics solutions on Azure and Microsoft Fabric. You will work closely with business stakeholders, BI teams, and technical teams to build robust data architectures, implement ETL/ELT processes, and ensure high-quality, reliable, and scalable data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines using Azure and Microsoft Fabric services
• Extract and integrate data from various source systems into Microsoft Fabric environments
• Design and implement Lakehouse and Data Warehouse architectures within Microsoft Fabric
• Build and manage scalable data lake and data warehouse solutions
• Design, develop, and optimize ETL/ELT processes for efficient data integration and transformation
• Create and maintain enterprise data models aligned with business and reporting requirements
• Design and optimize fact and dimension structures for analytical workloads
• Normalize, optimize, and enhance data models to improve performance and scalability
• Perform data quality, consistency, and validation checks across data assets
• Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and reliability throughout the data lifecycle
• Prepare and maintain data layers optimized for Power BI reporting and analytics
• Collaborate with BI teams to support reporting and dashboard development
• Monitor and optimize data platform performance and scalability
• Implement data governance, security, and access control best practices
• Contribute to CI/CD processes and DevOps practices for data platforms
• Provide technical guidance on Microsoft Fabric architecture, data warehousing best practices, and modern analytics solutions

Requirements

• 4–8 years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or Cloud Data Platforms
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including:
• Lakehouse
• Data Warehouse
• Data Factory
• Dataflows
• Strong experience with Azure Data Services, including:
• Azure Synapse Analytics
• Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2)
• Azure Data Factory or Synapse Pipelines
• Proficiency in SQL and Python / PySpark
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT concepts and data integration processes
• Experience with dimensional modeling, fact/dimension design, and data warehousing methodologies
• Experience designing and optimizing analytical data models for Power BI reporting
• Strong knowledge of data pipeline orchestration, monitoring, and performance tuning
• Familiarity with Power BI and enterprise reporting solutions
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Knowledge of data governance, security, RBAC, and best practices in Azure environments
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote and project-based environment
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams

Nice to Have

• Experience with real-time or streaming data architectures
• Experience with Spark-based processing environments
• Knowledge of Delta Lake concepts and modern data platform architectures
• Microsoft Azure or Microsoft Fabric certifications
• Experience working in enterprise-scale analytics and reporting projects
